Portland, OR, warehouse/church/big recording space to rent for a few weeks?

Hey all- We (leafminer.bandcamp.com) are getting ready to self-track a new release, and while we are happy to record in our plywood box rehearsal space (Puddletown!), I kind of want to do something more interesting. Does anyone know of a space we can rent for a few weeks at the end of the year? It d...

Looking for bass/baritone guitar player in Portland, OR

We ( www.numbersstationband.com ) are looking for a baritone guitar player to replace current player. Have shows booked, recording, possible small west coast tour. We're nice dudes. In our 40s. Pretty stable. Influences are pretty broad, and we are currently instrumental but open to ideas. We listen...

Looking for musicans (math/indie) in Portland, OR

Hey all- we're a trio (bass/drums/guitar) looking to round things out a bit. Have tried craigslist to no avail (but lots of bizarre responses!) and am trying to widen the search. We're looking to add a 4th player, most preferably a multi instrumentalist. Would love to add a cello player, or strings,...

My 87 does read a 150khz bias frequency coming off of the test points. Still only hits about 3.5mV. Very odd. I'll look into borrowing an analog meter as well.

I have the shop manual if you need a copy. I can look through it tonight and see what it says for that part. I've been working on getting mine back into calibration (see other post..). How far do you get in the calibration tests before something seems off?

Thanks, will try this when I get off of work today. I've had a few people go "35mV, what the hell- do it by ear!". I've been trying to be a good boy and stay golden to the manual settings. Will see how the ear routine does today. Keep in mind it's a two head machine, which makes adjusting things off...

Tascam TSR-8 biasing. Hitting a wall! Help!

Ok, I've posted about this before, but hopefully this is the last and ultimate post. I have a Tascam TSR-8, in nice shape. Came from the Texas schoil for the blind. I'm trying to put out another record using it, but moved cross country and changed tape brands (to ATR) and want to calibrate the whole...

The manual I have for the TSR-8 specifies 1 and 7. It specifies 6 and 7 for the bias trap. I'm just going after the tape bias, not head adjustments- they've never been a problem before, and all of my recording/mixing will be on this machine so I'm not worried if they are a little off. More worried a...

Help! Problems with Tascam TSR-8 tape bias!

OK, so I'm trying to be more consistent on my tape based work. I have a Tascam TSR-8 I got from the Texas school for the blind a while ago, which is in really nice shape. I want to rebias the machine for ATR tape. I've always used older Quantegy, so I want to be sure the machine plays well with the ...

Decent multimeter for doing tape machine setup?

Need some advice here. I'm trying to get more consistent about servicing my TSR-8 myself, and started to set the machine up for ATR tape today. Went to do the bias by the manual, but my multimeter doesn't read above 400hz (it's an older lower end radio shack model, I know, but it's been a work horse...
