Had my countryman type 85 for over 10 years. It spent the first 6 years gigging heavily and the last 4 being constantly used in my studio. It's a TANK and it sounds great on bass. +1 The Countryman is the best step up from the Behringer. Going from a Behinger to the Countryman will be very pleasing.

Am I barking up the wrong patchbay?
Like the poster Linus, I am "gearing up" (pun intended) to put together my first patchbay. My goal is to try to make it my last patchbay. I want to do it right. After looking around at the various offerings out there, I am most curious about this one from TecNec: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...

I totally agree Platypus. That sort of collaboration can produce much better work. What's interesting though is that you have to be mindful that the editing doesn't run out of control. In the 90's I played bass and sang back-up in a band called Syrup USA. We were a decent band, but something held us...

Oh man, that's terrible. RME isn't compatible with Mac Pros? Damn. Who said that? Yes they are. They have a ton of PCI-E interfaces. Infact they were one of the first companies to offer a plethora of PCI-E solutions that didn't suck. I wouldn't spend a couple of hundred on that when you can get one...

Hey, some of this 'aint to bad for a first effort. Arrangement is fine - but it lacks a kind of cohehesiveness and toughness of sound here and there. There are some momements that remind me of SebastiAn - do you know that kind of crazy overdriven French stuff? Hey thanks a lot! I've heard + dug seb...

You can keep your flame torches lit and try to burn up this thread, but the vinyl movement will not be stopped! </patheticintentionalsilliness> Ableton, one of the fastest growing + most popular + by far the most innovative DAW's out there, recently notified the public of its partnership with Serato...

I feel really fortunate to have seen MBV. It was one of the most extreme audio experiences of my life. I saw the Tuesday show in NYC. I'll never forget it. It was like the band showed us a different side of sound that I'd never experienced before, and that no other band could really reveal. It soun...

I'm sorry that was such a bummer experience, Gabe. I too DJ and I have Serato Scratch Live. Here's an interesting thing to do. Take a song that you have both a digital copy of and a vinyl copy of. Put the original vinyl on one turntable and the digital copy on the other turntable (either using timec...

I need advice on renting a recording studio space in NYC
in the near future I may be looking to rent a studio space in NYC/Bklyn. I've seen the ads for shares, but I'm wondering where to start as far as finding my own space. I don't need a large space, or a control room, just a spot that is quieter than a rehearsal room. If anyone has some pointers I'd li...
