Re: converting Otari 1/2" 8-track to 2-track

You really should think about getting a guy/gal to do the work. The reward will be that "tape tone". Try Intense Audio in Athens, GA. If they can find Otho for you, he will make it 2 trks. 8)

She was trying to get those mics out of inventory...Buy 3 for 199.99...They can be good live gtr mics or tom mics. Better than AT low end or similar $$ $tuff.

Re: bbe sonic maximizer

The BBE is different from the Aphex in that it is delaying specific frequencies. Hence, time aligning the signal. The Aphex is loosely EQ'ing the signal with no delays. Each are propietary devices and neither are doing the "same thing". This is NOT an accurate description of how the Aphex unit work...

If you said the best money can buy, the Dynaudio BM6a's are best in class. True to life and your ears dont bleed after 8 hours... Worth it, if you constantly mix.

Re: Opening chords of "Kid A" (and other great key

Thats an album I posted in the "witnessing a recording session thread" :) ...From what I've heard or read, the entire recording signal path from instrument input to final mastering during the sessions were done all analog. No IC's anywhere in the circuit path. Quite a feat given today's technology. ...

Re: MD421 vs. SM57 on Electric Guitar

Greta discourse going on! Try this... 421 in front and 57 in back, rev phase on same speaker at same proximity and placement. Assuming your amp is open back. Otherwise, get the 421 anyway. They're awesome!

Re: tapeoppers in savannah, georgia????

Lots of good suggestions above. I live in ATL and have lived in Statesboro, and Athens and I must say the music industry there is probably bleak. Close towns w/ possible scenes are Augusta, Statesboring, and Jacksonville, FL. You might consider catering to more than just indie rawk. Like rap and hip...

Re: bbe sonic maximizer

I've used the 362 and the 882 and there's a quality difference there, reflected by price as usual, but the real application for these, IMO, is LIVE sound. They have the capability of "time aligning" the low freqs to the high freqs. Since freqs travel at different speeds and therefore bounce of the b...

Re: Broadcast vs ProAudio?

Broadcast refers to the specs of the given pieceof gear, generated by oscilliscopes and meters and the like. Groups/ Societies like AES, NAB, IEC, SMPTE, and I'm sure there's a few others, set standars for audio fidelity and picture quality that take into consideration these specs. Y'know 20Hz-20kHz...

Re: what poweramp are you using to moinitor? what speakers?

I'm using a BGW Stereo Broadcast 150 going into NS-10m's. I may be underpowering the speakers slightly @75 watts each 'cuz they're rated at 100-125w , but I don't think its hurting the speakers. Anybody have an opinion about that?

Re: Difference between e609 'flat' and e609 'silver'?

I do beleive the Senn rep told me the black ones are "hand made" and the silver ones are assembly line made. Neither are truly the replication of the 409 highly desired quality. Also to note, i've been told the orig ones tend to degrade over heavy use and age...

Re: Blue 8 Ball?

I used to work for a "major retailer" that exclusively carried them when they came out... And we checked it vs other similar price/ performance. Not a typical BLUE mic. It was a little crappy in the mid range and poopy in the low end and the high end was indecernable. In short, the sm57, e604 are wa...
