I use the BB channels for backup all the time, I like the sound and the texture is very different from my Great River which I use for lead.

Nice, I've had one for a number of years as well. I'd always cringe when I saw the Rode bashing, although I agreed with most of the complaints too hyped, too crisp, too brittle, for most of the rest of the line, I always thought the NT2 struck a nice balance. Agreed on using it as a room/distance mi...

Gotta say I like a 57 jammed at the 12th fret, facing slightly back towards the soundhole, what kind of sound you looking for? I've been chasing a great AG sound for a while and have purchased/used a ton of different SD condensors (SM81, KM184, Peluso, ADK) sometimes in conjunction with a LD condens...

I realize this may not be that helpful if you *have* to go direct, but why not go after something like the zvex nano head, 1/2 watt amp, into a 8" or 10" external cab. You can run it hot and it won't be that loud, I guess I'm saying if you can listen to music at your place you can probably mic this ...

Wow, that Karma mic looks cool I must've missed that review, 3 patterns for $300, great deal. I'm still digging the ADK TC. Tube mic, I think they are around $350, I ditched my RODE NTK after I got this, the Rode's were always too sibilant on my voice.

For $300 a Drawmer 241 is a steal. I really like the Pro VLA. use it a lot more than the RNC but the RNC is nice as well, mostly use the VLA as a thickener, I sometimes run the VLA after a Distressor if I'm trying to kill some of the edge on a peaky acoustic.

Sorry for stealing the thread but does the delay created by a plug in depend on how much processing the plug in requires? For example if on my 4 drum tracks I eq and compress the snare and kick quite heavily should I place the same eq and compression plug ins on the OHs to keep the delay constant ac...

I've been recording a Taylor and Martin for the past week or so. I usually go in tight (3-4 inches) at the 12th fret angled back towards the hole, but recently have been going 8-12 inches away straight at the neck/body joint or 5-6 inches away at the bridge slightly angled towards the sound hole.

Test it out as well, as said previously inside 6 inches a little move can have a big effect, but I've found some mics are still very sensitive to distance changes up to a foot out.

I just tracked AG with a Peluso CEM6 - Sytek (BB) and it sounded great, ran the Sytek into the red and it had a nice edginess that fit the tune perfectly.

Toft AFC/ATC

Anyone tried these two units? I'm mainly interested in the EQ, it appears the ATC has 4 bands but the low and high are switchable to shelfs, whereas the AFC has 4 sweepable bands. Are the Q's similar on the mid bands, anything else noticable between the two?

Thanks.

Yeah, I'd say you could make a bigger dent hitting stuff closer to the source, maybe: -Another KSM32 for OHs, a kick mic (RE20, ATM25), 4 57's, call that $800 -Sytek $875 -High end 2 ch. comp that could handle snare/bass/vox/guitar/buss duties (1968, Portico) $1700 (I think DOTs got a 1968 on sale i...
