Re: Tracking vs Mixing

i do anything but i prefer tracking and mixing as it's the same thing.

i like mixing other peoples stuff.

people mixing my stuff drives me nuts. the couple times i've had it done i've hated the result.

'I dont know the model number, its an 8 buss, has 8 buss vu's, LR main vu's and wood sides in a moderately sized tabletop package, think its a 24 channel board.'

sounds like an M520...

Re: Bigger improvement in quality - which one?

the sm7 will take you far further in my opinion...i have the 312 it's a weird beast to me but it stil does nice things...but your mics are kinda lackluster...the sm7 rules.

if you want my used sm7 for 4 let me know...i'll buy one new for 3 at full compass.

'So, what would you guys say? Put the ATTENUATOR directly after the mic or before the pre amp?'

:)

i stick it after the mic when i have an inline one which hasn't been a long time...so i could be wrong!

Re: A Disturbing Trend in the Tape OP Reviews...

i can tell you at least via email - larry/tape op hasn't changed a bit since 96... i remember suggesting an article and larry asked if i'd do it...i saw a then-recent tape-op and thought - "outta my league" and passed it to someone... i thought, you know, tape op had gone 'big time.' a few years lat...

Re: no money for a u47...but

why a U47? i'd try to find a UMT70k mic used...the k ones were made for full compass. i sold mine for 5 used a few years ago...it doesn't sound like a u47 that i know of...but it has the same capsule... there was also one that Harvey Gerst wrote about...probably an MXL one...tube jobbie...
