Re: Newbie wants to play samples off a windows computer

Hi Kind Folks, My daughter wants to experiment with playing samples off her computer via her midi keyboard controller. I don't know the first thing about this, I intentionally steered clear of midi in the 80's (and since) because it just seemed super complicated and like a vast arena in which to sp...

Re: pan your drums out of the center

I'm gonna do a jam where I pan the kick and snare hard left and right just to upset everyone. All toms and cymbals straight up the middle. or maybe 15% left.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

I have acquired a Gretsch G5422TG Electromatic. I think it's my forever guitar. Has a lot of the tones I've been wanting and not figuring out on other guitars that just come pouring out of it like hot lava. Lurve! :hearts:

Re: Replace my monitoring amp with an old Crown?

D-150 has been my main amp for 25 years. It has been on much of that time. I've done many horrible things to it, and it has never once complained. Hope never to need another amp.

Finally bought an EV RE20. Total impulse buy, but I've wanted one for a long time and got a decent deal on a factory repack.
My go-to mic. Used it for everything from drum area mic to piano to guitar to vox (duh), amp mic'ing, field recording....

Re: I highly recommend REAPER

In Reaper I've taken a session PC --> Mac --> PC --> Linux. No hassle loading in any environment, and no discern-able differences in playback--didn't do a cancel check, but presume it would pass. The in-built plugs are not decorated with crazy retro graphics, but they sound nice, and are standard be...

Anyone ever tried M/S with a Leslie? I feel like that could be pretty cool.

Re: Check in Thread

Glad this thread is here. Making me feel a little comforted today on a day when I am otherwise despondent. Thanks for that. Haven't been here in a minute. I've lived in East Lansing, MI and Royal Oak, MI since last I checked in when I was living in Hillsborough, NC. Back in Minneapolis now. Have los...

Mega-board

I'm super-glad the forum has been updated and your signaled support!

So, not to be too choosy as a beggar, but could we please have the mega-board back? (Hey, at least I'm not asking for off-topic. )

If I'm just a little sleep-depped, any of it. Worst is when it's something super-inane, and/or in a less-than-private moment. I got to see Yoko Kanno at an anime convention a few years ago. She did a solo piano performance, and I found the whole experience so overwhelming that I couldn't shut off th...

Granted I'm only self-recording, but I use several MOTU boxes and no mixer on the way in, for 24 channels or so. I have the analog outs of the MOTUs summed to a Mackie 12-channel mini-mixer for master volume knob for monitoring. I like it a lot for a solution because it takes up almost no space and ...

In addition to his noise music, Xenakis is reputed for being ahead of the curve in computer music meta-design. https://www.google.com/search?q=xenakis+software Jj, Have you ever had a chance to mess around with that Xenakis inspired IanniX software ? Haven't played with that one, but a different Xe...
