Re: g5 powerbook?
Check out OSX audio. Apparently, they actually can't keep it cool enough. I, for one, don't think they would stagger it like that simply becuase Apple visibility and confidence is pretty high...the perfect time to sell the world's "fasted goddamn laptop." I think, if they could, they'd market a sin...

Who cares?
Either it's good, or it's not good, or it's somewhere in-between.
It's not about haircuts.

Sick.

Plate reverbs aren't that hard to build, if you're handy. One of my buddies built one, and it sounds really good. Storing/moving it is another matter.

Re: CB Radio sound on vox
filter everything out except for the hi-mids. maybe add a little distortion. When I do it, I use a astatic crystal mic--something similar to this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64449&item=3779670791&rd=1 Those mics are really cool for other things as well, like distorted...

Re: I'm SO SICK of the Mackie 1604
It's not the Mackie -- it's your skills. I've made many records with Mackie mixers, and every record I mix is monitored with Mackie monitors. Keep blaming the gear... Well, if you like how mackie stuff sounds, good for you. I know of lots of stuff that's made with Mackie gear that sounds great. For...

So what's your point, do you hate Mackie mixers or do you think they cost too much? $575 for a 1604 is a killer deal.
If you want to see a real killer deal on a 1604, go here:

Re: g5 powerbook?
yeah, I hope they pull off the G5 sometime soon. But for now, word out on the street is that they run way too hot. I'm sure within a couple of years they'll rectify that. That will be rad.

Yeah...I just did a session on a 1604. What a shit sandwich that board is. EVERYBODY has one though. The studio was also equipped with Mackie 824's. Thank god there was a pair of genelecs in there so I didn't have to use the Mackies. Blech.

Re: bellari mp105 pot replacements... puff? mr. pastry?
I hate to tell you, but that's just how it is. I don't think that changing the pots is going to fix anything. That pre is pretty un-usable when you put it past the 2 o'clock position (unless you're going for total fuzzed-out distortion), and the pots are scratchy in that way right out of the box. I ...
