Re: Recording Chain notation

Me, I include the player, instrument and gear recording chain in the name of the individual track - look to the lyric drop downs on most all songs on my bandcamp and you can find 'em listed. My lyric sheets - whether my lyrics or the artists I'm recording, I keep 'em digitally, usually as .txt - lis...

Recording Chain notation

Reading a few mentions here lately when someone speaks of a piece of gear possibly being used to record a track, I hafta ask:

Does anyone else keep notes on the recording chain used?

How?

Why?

Re: M/S on the mix - am I doing it right?

For me, in the context of the rock music I usually work on, such tricks and effects are best used in a subtle and/or specific manner*. I would never M/S an entire mix - leave that to a guy whom knows what he's doing in the mastering stages. I have M/S'd a mono drum track (M/S onna drum two-mix kinda...

Re: M/S guitars and other stuff

I've played with the panning L vs. R before, also, with uneven results - sometimes it works well in stereo, but poorly in mono. But sometimes it's cool! Better, IMO, and what I concluded from and did on these mixes, is on RthmGtr1 run the Mid centered and the sides at 100% R/L, and the on RthmGtr2 r...

Re: M/S guitars and other stuff

I just remembered this thread. Here is the M/S project I was talking about. I used M/S only on guitars, but not all the guitars - just the ones into the Blackstar amp. As well, a few are done with pedal simulators. If you wanna guess, give a listen, then click on the "Lyric" drop down next to the so...

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear, enlightenment, and yer mom, man

Before the G&L re-fret I have to get a crack fixt in my low-end Martin, which as only been there about 5 years ...

I do still play the G&L, it just has a note or two I hafta remember to fret extra hard when doing vibrato (E at ix is one, G and B at xii).

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear, enlightenment, and yer mom, man

I have a "The Paul" - whadda sweet guitar, much lighter than a Standard, etc., and I love the green-burst non-bound mahogany body. Mine came with Dirty Fingers which I used to love when playing out, but I am thinking of swapping to a PAF or even a P90 type. The guitar is just so playable in comparis...
