Re: RIP, Charlie Daniels

Won't happen again! In the 80's, he was down with the Marshall Tucker Band, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Skynyrd crowd. But I don't think it was anything more than the music and image - no 'net and I never saw him interviewed except about the movie, when I was more into Vai, anyway, ...

Re: RIP, Charlie Daniels

Yeah, I had read that. On the other hand, I have Saddle Tramp on vinyl and it was a high school fave, and Fire on the Mountain was omnipresent when I was in college, circa '80. On the other other hand, I never bought 'em on CD, haven't heard him in years since the movie. OT (hey! I started this thre...

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear and enlightenment, man

It was good timing in that I did not have to shake my martoonie, altho' the subsequent tornado sirens followed by the po-po driving around bellowing over their P.A. that "Antifa is not thought to be involved at this time" did result in me spitting out a mouthful of precious gin. And a olive.

This is the bottom of that stack: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50076913613_582926da29_k.jpg The VC1Q is a very vintage-sounding pre/compressor/EQ. I tend to use it for vocals; it is really good for a kinda slow, dirty sound. Yeah, that's a Summit 2BA-221, again use mostly for vocals. I bought...

Re: Huxley pin holes and flames. Elementary my dear Vlayman. He wanted to view an eclipse. He grabbed one of those florist vase-bottom placed pin pads and made multiple presses on the Huxley cover. He wanted a bigger view of the eclipse so tried using a magnifying glass between the sun and the book...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Bought a Shape Shifter tambo off the SDOTD; it adjusts between a full or half circle.

I bought it cuz it was fairly inexpensive, and I really dig how loose and shhh the bells are - records great and better that the wood ones I have.

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear and enlightenment, man

My Aldous Huxley book, and this is true, has a very dark set of multiple 12 oz. circles on the cover, with numerous pin-holes in the middle, almost as if something was stuck there, burning under glass many years ago ... Thinking back on that, helps me to accept the disconcerting vision of a VLA abov...

Thanks for the mention!

When I get mad, happy, horny, angry, sad, bored, high, drunk, inspired, or new gear are some of the things make me wanna record.

Re: shedshrine 3.0 build

One would perhaps predict a scratchy sound, littered with gravelly-sounding artifacts, resulting in messy tracking with "a little hair onnit".

Re: DI bass and guitar

So here's a tune with my nu-style flip-top (pf20t + matching 115 cab) featured prominently. Probably had a safety track from a Radial DI (likely unused on the mix), I think the amp was mic'd with an MD-609 (I can check my logs if anyone is curious), and there's some sort of pedal adding a bit of di...
