Re: The Pro Jr.
Yeah, but that Tiny Terror is awesome, particularly if you put inna AU7 and use it with an open-back cab (I have a Jet 1x10" that can be open or closed that I use withit). Not a bad bass-recording option, also. I have a few tube amps here and the guitarist in one of the bands I'm in gravitates to th...

New DAW?
So I've been using Cool Edit Pro2.1 for like 20 years, and I am incredibly fast onnit, have all of my most-used shortcuts memorized, know all of the native plugs - love it, even if it's onna XP Pro computer that's like 10 years old. So I wound up with a spare Win 11 laptop (it was an ill-advised for...

Re: Mono Auratone - who knew??
I use a Tivoli for that, run my Auratones in stereo. Or use the mono button on my monitor box, what gives dual mono until panned. I mixed 3 songs yesterday - I hate starting with the Auratones because they sound so relatively bad compared to my other monitors, but they bring a balanced mix together ...

Re: The Pro Jr.
Has anyone tried the Bassbreaker combos? I have the 007 and the 15w., liked the former so much for recording I got the latter for small jams. (They differ a bit from each other.) I dig dirt and I feel the Bassbreakers are great for that, although they don't give as good loud clean like the Pro,Jr. A...

Re: The Pro Jr.
mods I think improved the Pro,Jr. (and I mentioned in the other thread) and how: a 12AU7 in first position cleaned it up allowing louder volume with minimal breakup until fully Spinal Tap'd a better speaker, same thing (I use the amp as a pedal platform) - those two changes were pretty significant m...

Re: My poor hears are getting old
I have a muso-producer buddy with bilaterals - his mixes are fine.
Isn't it Brian Wilson who mixes with just one functioning ear?

Re: The bottom of the snare
I once hadda dream about an internal snare mic.
I guess I went to bed with a pretty good ...
... wait for it ...
... buzz.
But even if such a thing existed, we would be debating whether to point it more up or down, or utilizing a stereo capsule.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
a Slick tele, my third - I love the sound and playability and look, but damn this one is heavy a 50% steel guitar - cool with heavy distortion, I already had the requisite bar slide (on top, a bunch of other "slides" I use at lower right) the Fox pedal Killface (bass) and Kingdom (guitar) dirt pedal...

Re: I'm not a piano technician
I repaired a Rhodes 77 some 20 years ago.
Not the same, I know, but I mention because I was able to tune it with a Sabine tuner (after I did a lot of mechanical work on some of the tines and key arms and hammers and further work on some coils).
Would a modern tuner with a mic help with that?
