Re: New DAW?

Maybe just take the five things you do the most and see how to do them in Reaper or studio one or any of the free ones and see if they resonate with you. Love that idear! I am not a "repeat-work" kinda person, but I find I can do tapeop stuff OK because love. My real issue is, I don't wanna lose CE...

Re: Mono Auratone - who knew??

Do you guys start the mix on the auratones? Try to, but my tracking speakers sound better, and so sometimes I just leave 'em on. Which begs the question, did you do the tracking on more full range speakers? Like you've already sort of got a reasonable sound going for the instruments that have a big...

Re: New DAW?

It's not about "easy", really - it's more about speed and convenience. Yeah, I tried Cubase a few times, like 10 years ago; it was aiight. I tried PT free, Steinberg LE, Traktion also in that time period, some other stuff. I love CEP because it works well, and I know it in-depth. I just dread learni...

Re: Duane Eddy, RIP

For me, he made it OK to solo on the low strings, with naught but overdrive and reverb and mebbe some tremolo and a whammy bar = simple way to get happy.

I guess we just gots to rumble on.

Re: The Pro Jr.

Yeah, but that Tiny Terror is awesome, particularly if you put inna AU7 and use it with an open-back cab (I have a Jet 1x10" that can be open or closed that I use withit). Not a bad bass-recording option, also. I have a few tube amps here and the guitarist in one of the bands I'm in gravitates to th...

New DAW?

So I've been using Cool Edit Pro2.1 for like 20 years, and I am incredibly fast onnit, have all of my most-used shortcuts memorized, know all of the native plugs - love it, even if it's onna XP Pro computer that's like 10 years old. So I wound up with a spare Win 11 laptop (it was an ill-advised for...

Re: Mono Auratone - who knew??

I use a Tivoli for that, run my Auratones in stereo. Or use the mono button on my monitor box, what gives dual mono until panned. I mixed 3 songs yesterday - I hate starting with the Auratones because they sound so relatively bad compared to my other monitors, but they bring a balanced mix together ...

Re: The Pro Jr.

Has anyone tried the Bassbreaker combos? I have the 007 and the 15w., liked the former so much for recording I got the latter for small jams. (They differ a bit from each other.) I dig dirt and I feel the Bassbreakers are great for that, although they don't give as good loud clean like the Pro,Jr. A...

Re: The Pro Jr.

mods I think improved the Pro,Jr. (and I mentioned in the other thread) and how: a 12AU7 in first position cleaned it up allowing louder volume with minimal breakup until fully Spinal Tap'd a better speaker, same thing (I use the amp as a pedal platform) - those two changes were pretty significant m...

Re: My poor hears are getting old

I have a muso-producer buddy with bilaterals - his mixes are fine.

Isn't it Brian Wilson who mixes with just one functioning ear?
