Re: What Did You Work On Today? 1-05-05

Jes trying to learn how to do this whole thing professionally. Got some responses from companies saying my songs are good, the voice is great - but I need better production. But, I don't have the ducats for that! AND it's hard to do it all yourself. I play drums guitar bass keys and sing and write m...

Re: Quincy Jones/Off The Wall/Thriller

I'd be interested in that info as well...maybe there's something on the web? Man, those two albums are AMAZING for bass and drum mixes! And mixes in general. There is no rap beats I've heard that cut throu like that menacing beat on Billie Jean and Don't Stop Till You Get Enough. Quincy was awesome....

I like a couple of cups of coffee and or green tea, but not hours withing the time I try to sleep. As previously mentioned, it messes with my REM.

How the coffee up your ass work for you, Bassface? Is that bad for REM? :D

Re: Studio Owner SHOT.....KILLED....

You know... I was actually robbed about three years ago...most of my studio equipment was lifted at the time. I've had to pretty much start over since then, because insurance won't cover theft of musical equipment, at least none I've found. And the police couldn't do anything because the thief left ...

Re: Cross-stick snare miking. HOW?

FYI, I've been experimenting with different compression settings on the snare, as was suggested earlier in this thread...and I'm definitely getting the sound I was looking for. A lil compression gives the snare a nice, bright *POP*. Thanks for the advice. BTW, now I'm having kick drum issues. I'm ge...

Re: My favorite Led Zep right now. . .

I have to take issue with that, and not just the spelling. :D Led Zeppelin was not a metal band. They were a rock band. I guess you could say "hard rock band". They may have given birth to metal, but that's not what they were. Their influences and styles were so diverse musically-- but they always ...

Re: My favorite Led Zep right now. . .

There was a little skit on MTV about ten years ago, showing the influence of zeppelin. They'd play a zep riff, and then show an exact copy in bands like White Snake and Tesla. The main thing that was ripped off was Plant's haircut, and Bonham's drum fills. and....SO?! I'll bet White Snake's singer ...

Re: Hanging Posters in Seattle

Andrew... Just how is gigging in Seattle these days? I haven't gigged up there for years. What clubs are happening? Or, have all the live music venues turned into gay discotechs by now? I'm not ripping on Homesexuals or discotechs, by the way. I love gay people in a plutonic way and dance halls in a...

Re: My favorite Led Zep right now. . .

That's cool, Cappy*tan. The great thing about music is that, "what is good" is determined by the individual. I've talked to people who can't stand Led Zeppelin...I guess, the conversation I'm thinking of is with someone who couldn't stand Page's screaming. It's all good. I can't stand Green Day's si...

Re: My favorite Led Zep right now. . .

heh I can't stand Zeppelin at all. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. Nothing wrong with that. Hammertime would agree with you. I'll admit it...Page's live playing was sometimes sloppy. And, yes, Plant's lyrics were cliche at times. But, Led Zeppelin definitely set some new standards in the roc...
