1) The intro to "Watcher of the Skies" by Genesis. Crap! How could I forget. Hey groover, what did Tony use for the solo in Slippermen? I love that sound, and i assume it was a moog. Back in those days, Tony Banks used an ARP Pro-Soloist preset synth live and he also used an ARP 2600 in the studio.

Favortie Mellotron Moments

I'll start: King Crimson : the low "Brass From Hell" on "Sailor's Tale", title cut of ITCOTCK, title cut of "In The Wake of Poseidon" (LOVE the brass tapes!) PFM : live version of "4 ...

Re: mellotron recording tips
I've heard that plate reverb does wonders for a 'Tron. If you just record it straight, it's VERY dry sounding. On the sessions for King Crimson's "In The Court of The Crimson King" (this info is in Sid Smith's book "In the Court of King Crimson"), the Mellotron MKII was pumped into a Marshall stack,...

Re: Most Entertaining Concert You Went To
One that will always stand out for me is Sleepytime Gorilla Museum when I saw them at NEAR Fest '03 An odd mixture of Industrial, early to mid 20th Century classical music, goth, junk percussion and such, they truly were one of a kind in a cheesy horror movie kind of way (the drummer had this cool d...
