Steve Fisk and "appropriate reverb"

I could have listened to Larry and Steve talk for 3 more hours, that was a really fun listen. Early in the podcast, Steve mentioned a project that had "appropriate reverb" I have a sense of what he meant, but as a weird old dude making rock operas in the spare bedroom, I could really use a two page ...

Mastering to LUFS standards

I've been recording and mastering (on Ozone 7) my dumb indie rock stuff on a hobbyist level for a long time, and in the last few years I've gotten to a point where the tracks sound like I want them to sound, and I can play them next to commercially produced stuff. But now we want to make it availabl...

Stereo editor for Windows 8

I'm a home recorder and I'd been using Wavelab Essentials and Cakewalk Pyro on my old XP machine for cheap mastering and CD burning. Just upgraded to a Windows 8 machine and can't seem to find a compatible replacement. Just need something simple that supports VST plugins for under $100. Any suggesti...

Hey Essami, as a home-recordist with a really annoying voice I deal with this problem a lot and have been using a de-esser with pretty good results. I use the free plugin "Spitfish" from Digital Fish Phones.

Anyone try the Rode Procaster?

Hey, I would like to get an Electrovoice RE20, but I can't sneak it past the budget committee at this time. I just saw the Rode Procaster (which is certainly trying to look like the RE20) at Guitar Center for half the price. Anybody try one of these yet? I would be using it mainly to try and tame my...

Oh that was silly. They just got back to me. The problem was that I had a capital letter in the file. Changed it to all lower case and it went through fine.
Thanks everybody.

I'm waiting for them to get back to me. It seems like I should resolve the issue with them, rather than trying to find a different site. (My computer is still fairly recent, with no major issues anywhere else)

I've got a Tube Pac that sounds pretty okay for general recording stuff, but works really great if I want to add some fuzzy weirdness, like to re-amp a vocal or guitar or drum track.

Any Cleveland Tape-Op people want to put together a band?

Okay, this is a really stupid idea, but I would love to put together a band of cool, fun people (and who is more cool and fun than tape-op readers?) to play
indie underground covers. I am thinking GBV, Replacements, Pavement, and etc... Could be horrible, could be fun. Anybody?

Getting digital distribution

I know this is a bit off topic for Tape Op, but this is the one place I trust for info. I am looking for a distribution site to get my music onto iTunes and etc... I used to use CDBaby, but I don't plan on selling any physical CD's, so a lot of what they offer (and charge for) is extraneous to me. I...

Poor Man's Reamp

I love the idea of Re-amping, but I am at a point where I really don't want to buy any more gear. Of course you don't really need a box, but it always seems to sound weird going straight from the aux send into the amp. I discovered this method just through goofing around. Send the Aux into the norma...
