I would suggest that cheesiness does not stick. Study of the history of western music (of which I've done PLENTY, maybe too much!) shows that sometimes music that is passed by in its time as irrelevant, lowly, intellectually insulting, even blasphemous, or just plain bad, only to later be discovered...
