Pro Tools phase question

this might not be a big problem ...but just want to know how others go about this. I'm working on a session that has 2 guitars...both guitarists played thru the exact same set up (a pod pro & a mesa boogie preamp...both direct on their own tracks)..there is a slight lag with the mesa and the phase n...

Re: buttholes of the day; MONSTER CABLE

I had to call Monster customer support recently to ask a simple question - "the location of a serial number" on a product I needed to insure...the guy on the phone refused to tell me where it was located...and kept refering to me as "bro" at least 3 or 4 times....I thought it was pretty unprofession...

Re: Fender Gtr. Amp Choices

if that Super Reverb re-issue is the real thing I would get that.. they only started making those again a few years ago and they sell new for about $1,200....that would be my choice for $400.....the Twin Reverb II came out around 1984 I think, not the best era of fender amps...but who knows, if it s...

Re: Digidesign admitted second gen.G5 ProTools Freeze Up Pro

I've been using the last version of the G4 Dual 1.25 with Superdrive & 002R for 6 months now without any crashes or freeze ups during all that time...also using OS X 10.3.2 & Pro Tools v. 6.4 - not sure if that helps anyone but it's worked for me.

I've only been receiving TapeOP by mail for 2 or 3 months & this message board has more useful tips and info by far...good thing I got the free subscription.

Re: Heavy Metal Engineers...Andy Sneap, Fredrik Nordstrom??

I can't imagine TapeOp ever covering any of those engineers or anything to do with metal..because it wouldn't be "cool".

BTW-- I saw Arch Enemy when they opened for Iron Maiden in LA awhile back at Universal...they were actually pretty good...metal lives!!!

Learning New Monitors

Question - I've always heard that the best way to learn the monitors you mix on is to listen to CDs you are familiar with...if you are using Pro Tools or something similar...wouldn't it be more accurate to import the CD into stereo files and listen that way? or play the CD on an actual CD player? I'...

Re: Adding a second set of monitors - not NS-10's

get a pair of events man. the 20 20s or the tuned reference. They are the new NS-10s for real. I see them in every project studio, on every ad, in everybody's mom's house, they are accurate, flat, and I hate mine, but I love them cause I hate them. You have the sparkly nice speakers, now get the "w...

Re: a question about accurate headphones....please help!!!

why not just mix at lower volumes? headphones are never accurrate...that's why music sounds so much better on them than your normal speakers. I've tried just for the hell of it mixing on my AKG K240 headphones and it always comes out sounding like a mess....only thing headphones are good for is edit...
