I used one with Logic for a while. Great build quality. It emulated the HUI protocol, which is why the master fader doesn't work in PT.
I liked my unit a lot, but already had superior preamps and converters, so didn't use the one's onboard.

Logic 8 has never once crashed for me since the day I installed it which was about a week after it was released. You said you want tracking and basic plugins. OK. If you get Final Cut Studio you'll get Soundtrack. It's possible that's all you need. I love Logic 8, though, I switched from ProTools to...

We built out the basement of our Chicago bungalow a few years back and specified about a 3rd of the floor plan as my studio. Which is good because we have 2 kids now and I couldn't imagine having to fight for space now. I like to rearrange furniture every 6 months or so...that keeps my space clean a...

There are 2 ways of looking at these things. One, something is killing something else. Personal digital audio players and digital downloads are killing the album. CDs are killing vinyl and sound quality. Wax cylinder recordings are killing live orchestral performances. Air travel is killing Route 66...

One thing to keep in mind is that the MBP has a dedicated graphics processor and while we're not working with HD video or anything, on a MacBook the main CPU has to give up some power and memory to the graphics. Also, the MBP has 2 second FW port in the form of FW800. Not really much of an issue of ...

Let me first say that I am not a gigging guitarist, nor have I tried any of the guitar softwares before Mainstage in Logic Studio. But...$600 for GTR3? That's incredible. Logic Studio is $500 and comes with Logic Pro 8, Mainstage, Soundtrack Pro, etc. Mainstage is an amazing app and I can't see need...

FF800 user here. Very pleased with it, too. RME were the first to have Mac Intel drivers available for their hardware, before Intel Macs were even being sold. They are on the ball and do great stuff. The Ensemble drivers were written by Apple and were not ready when the unit shipped. By now they are...
