lightpipe mixer
SM Pro Audio has an 8 channel preamp out that has XLR ins and adat lightpipe out (i mentioned it in the SMPR8 thread). If i go into the adat via lightpipe, does anyone had a suggestion for a 16+ channel mixer that can receive 16 channels of adat lightpipe ?

I saw this on e-bay while looking for a limiter. I want somthing like this for vocals so i can free up a compressor for other things. Anyone have experience with it? It looks like just the thing I need.

Adat Angle
Would mounting an adat on an angle cause any problems, or is it kosher to mount them in one of those raxxess slanted economy racks?

Re: 2 track mix down machine
An adition to this question for myself: Would it be worth it to mix from adat to 2 track reel then dump to CD? Does it help that much?

I just got one for free. I've been cleaning it up and messing around with it for the past hour. Anyone have one? Like it? Any info? Just looking to start some dialogue on the machine.

Re: slamming a 1/4" reel
Man that sucks. junkshop; how did you sync the reel to the adat? That may be cool. Or maybe i'll get an 8 track reel and dump to adat like that. I normaly do 5 tracks live, 3 drum, guitar and bass.I like my adats (LX20's by the way). I'm good at fixing and maintaining them. And i love having tapes t...

Re: slamming a 1/4" reel
I didnt think of that delay part. It has RCA ins and outs, i was going to hook up to those. There is a switch that says "Monitor: Source or Tape." Is that where i would select the right one to have no delay? If so, which one should I use? Also, there is a switch for 7 1/2 isp or 3 1/4 isp. Which one...

slamming a 1/4" reel
I have this old Sony 1/4" 2 track reel laying around and i want to put it to use. My plan is to send my kick and snare track from mic to preamp to reel to adat; in hopes to get this smooth natural compression everyone talks about. I have no reel to reel experience (i can thread it and play it). What...

Re: Fun with 12 Track Recorder(s)

Well actualy i knew it wouldnt be good from the start, but it just looks so damn cool! In another au...

Fun with 12 Track Recorder(s)
my computer died. 6 misserable days without tape op... I rarely use more than 12 tracks. Most of the time i keep in to 8 tracks but now and then I end up needing one or two more tracks for vocals of guitar dubs. And its a hastle to fire up/buy tape/sync/format to get the second adat ready, jut to la...
