Interesting. I wouldn't mind having a few more channels of Input. Maybe another firepod or other presonus equivalent is next. I'm recording in a basement(mostly to totally unfinished) so fixing up the room is sort of out of the question for now. I'm just kind of unsure as where to go next gear wise....

I currently recording with a presonus firepod and oktava -mk-012 x2 oktava -mk219 x2 mxl v69me mxl 990 a 57 and a kick mic that I can't think of. I've seen a presonus m80 and am thinking that upgrading the pres might be helpful. Is this upgrade worth it? Or what would be the next step in the equatio...

I had one other break on me. One of the wires inside had broken off from it's joint. It was an easy fix. The hardest part was opening up the capsule. Thanks to tapeOp, I learned that you screw the screws inwards to take the mic apart.
Find a friend who knows how to solder and open that thing up!

On second listen, I take back my first comment about the low end.

Anyone who spends over $1 on a computer these days is nuts. Pickup a refurb G4 on ebay for $100 or less. Upgrade the processor with an OWC 2.0 Ghz dual for $500+. Second drive, 160 GB Seagate ATA for $49 Then you're up and running. Isn't 100+500+49 = $649 more than $1? kilo bucks are the new dollars.

Personally, playing the guitar is art, and with art, you can't let people box you in by saying not to do something. Learn both ways and use whatever method works for what you're playing.

If you know who he is, then you should watch this show.
It's some of him playing but mostly it's him talking about what music means to him, the differences between genres of music, and how corporations have ruined the world.
