I had the same problem. If you go to the first post and use that link you'll be fine.

Can't let the opportunity pass to mention Waylon Jennings' "Honky Tonk Heroes" The Devil made me do it the first time the second time I done it on my own... Long live Billie Joe Shaver. Brian Love Shaver! That he writes so simply, and sincerely inspires me to no end; he sings the same way. Sad abou...

Don't know what you need it for but I just got one of those EH Holy Grail's and HOLY SHIT. It was exactly what I'd been looking for. I'm using it with on old fender lapsteel going into a fender champ that has a great tremelo but no reverb. It does the spring reverb thing perfectly. I don't often gus...

In case anyone's curious I finally got the bass drum pedal. Tried a bunch of things. What I ended up with was my accordion case with an old wallet taped to where the beater hits the case. I had attach the pedal to an old clipbord and duct tape the case to that to get it to work. Miced with LDC C-1 t...

Sennheiser HD280 pro's are uncomfortable but very accurate sounding. Even though they feel like vice grips on the head, they sound even and neutral. I have some inexpensive Senn HD202's that I intend to use in my studio for musicians to track with, I think that they'll work well for that purpose, e...

Appreiciate all the replies. I'm intrigued by the phone book idea. Did you use a kick pedal and play with the rest of the "kit" or did you just beat it by hand?. Good to get the info on box types etc as well I can't wait to get the kick pedal to try different things out. I've been going around beati...

Cardboard box for Bass Drum. Anyone try it?
I seem to remember from that "Standing In the Shadows of Motown" documentary that they said they used a cardboard box for a bass drum. I'm wondering if anyone's ever tried this. I'm not a drummer by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been playing highhat and snare and one cymbal with brushes f...

Here's what analoghacker (the guy who designed the 12ay7) had to say on another thread... I'm sure if you PM him, he'd answer all your questions. Also search on his posts, and you'll definitely get a thorough rundown. Thanks Kaygum. I reread a bunch of stuff and think I understand things a little b...

I was reading some of the old threads on this and now I'm confused about something. From everything I've read on tubes I should be getting the most gain out of a 12ax7/12ax7 combination. From what I've read the 12ax7's are rated "100" for gain while the 12au7's are rated 20 or something. The 12ay7's...

I've had the 12ay7 for awhile now and was wondering about something. I've noticed that with the 12au7 tube in either position I get kind of a spitty/buzzy sound with acoustic guitar or mandolin. I've tried a few of other tubes 12ax7's 7025 and it never happens. I like the sound of the other tube com...

Thanks Fletcher. What a great reminder that, for me, this is just a hobby. I'm the Studio Projects guy recording into a DAW and even though I've been around and should know better, I can honestly start to convince myself that I'm going to make a recording with this crap I've got that would make Dani...
