For what it's worth, my home rig is a MacBook Pro with 10.5.2 and PTLE 7.4 works VERY well.
I have NOT however bothered to upgrade the studio MacPro Quad Xeon to 10.5 and see no reason to just yet. Seeing as it works just fine.

logic is great, and i have both logic and LE running on my laptop for my home rig. i turn to PTLE 90% of the time because of familiarity, that and the 7.4 upgrade is slick as can be and runs quite well for. i must say that a strong reason is that we're running HD at the studio and it's where my nois...

A few years back now, I was working live sound for a bunch of country bands and was out on the road with Brooks and Dunn, loads of fun to be sure, beer company sponsor, all that. Sound Image was the company that did all of their stage production and gear, and was the company that employed me. This w...

i love outboard. and at the studio we're well equipped, but at home my rig is much more limited and i have the smack! compressor and i really like it for all sorts of uses, it's about as 'distressor-ish' as a plug-in can get with a lot of variation between curves on ratios and all that action. it se...

I am sure the Chandler sounds great but those light-up faders look a little cheese-ball to me. Like something some dumb-ass would buy at Auto Zone and bolt on to the bottom of a 1987 Honda CRX that has an exhaust that sounds like a weed-eater. it's an '89 CRX, mine is an '89!!!! http://akamaipix.cr...

yeah, that chandler is sexy as all hell, but i'll wait another three to five years for someone to make another plug-in/summing/sonic maximizer and then when one of you guys wants to sell the chandler for short ducets, im in. same wave as ever. man buys cool gear, man makes good music, man tries to k...

We finally made the leap to Pro Tools this year after a long spell without it. I can say hat I am TOTALLY happy about it. I bitched about the same things as anyone in the past and they are valid to a point, but our business has increased substantially because of the HD rig and I absolutely love work...

It seems to me that 500-series format is becoming the way to go. I'm definitely on board. I'm keeping my Sytek for now... ...I'm totally overwhelmed regarding which 500-format preamp to start out with! Maybe just 1-2 channels of API 512 for starters. Not to Naysay, as I totally agree with the 500 s...
