A few kinda basic things I learned shopping for mine... A 3/4 size instrument (the most common size) is easier to play in tune than a 1/2. The scale of the neck fits better with intuitive finger placement. The plywood instruments are typically more suited for bluegrass and such than a more expensive...

I recently learned about TV Party, a documentary about a late 70's/early 80's public access cable show in NYC, on pitchfork.tv. Really great, it has ruined me for most roc docs for a while. Truly inspiring... nice scene of Debbie Harry on a pogog stick sans bra while a stoner jam slams in the backgr...

I used to do a fair bit o metal... Put a second mic on the kick and route it directly to a bass amp or monitor right behind the drummer. Turn up the volume to the point where the kick is nicely balanced with the cymbals in your OH mics (you'll also have the benefit of sounding more compressed and ha...

Happened just last night, I was editing a live show taped with a ZoomH4. Luckily the take they wanted didn't have the offending interference until the end of the tune when audience was clapping. The ringer was off, just the rf chugging away...

Last.fm w/ myspace

Hi, I've recently ditched the myspace player for the Last.fm player for my personal reel (hoping more stuff becomes available over time.) Nice quality and I like the inclusion of album art, similar artists and a buy link... Warning, this link is a pop up... to avoid it use the link in my signature.....

Tuning is usually around a hundred bucks, double that for the first time (a rough and fine pass.) Local moving on mine was $375 (came out of a 3rd floor walkup 20 miles away.) Spent another $175 on tweaking the action. That's about 800 bucks right there on moving and a couple tweaks... Back to wish ...

If used a digital out of the Aurora into a Lavry Black DA10, it has a nice stepped output level. I do that with my RME Fireface, into the DA10, then straight into the amp. Sounds wonderful and I have it calibrated to a K-System, repeatable, reference. Gonna be more dough than you might want to part ...
