Re: vinyl collecting ( and surrounding planetary atmosphere )

Yeah, released in 1975 it was previously only available on vinyl in/from Japan. It was reissued on vinyl for Europe around 2015, and in the US market last year. Very nice pressing too! (My copy is anyway,.) Live date in Japan with his Headhunters crew. https://www.discogs.com/Herbie-Hancock-Flood/re...

Re: vinyl collecting ( and surrounding planetary atmosphere )

I think one of the greatest things you can hear walking into a record store is "Oh hey man, yeah, just give me a second to fill the incoming bins. Got an awesome collection in." I didn't hear that today. Regardless.. Van Halen 1 Remastered , as in apparently Michael Anthony DID play on the album! 40...

Re: The Bad Plus

2014 Inevitable Western- These nine tracks are equally divided compositionally among bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer Dave King. " Inevitable Western is a reminder that the Bad Plus are not a "piano trio" in any ordinary sense of the term, but a unit of strikingly different ...

Re: The Bad Plus

This just arrived, such as it is. Amazingly the cd itself got barely a scratch. Great freaking album!

Re: vinyl collecting ( and surrounding planetary atmosphere )

i like the idea for the small 7" shelves. my issue is i don't have enough 7" to get a crate to house them, so they are just loose next to my receiver. i'm a big 12" guy, not much of a 7" guy. i get that "real crate diggers" are all about the 7", but i just like to get stuff to listen to. I've only ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Pigtronix Envelope Phaser - now this is what I been looking for! No severe volume shifts, great sound, totally controllable and useably subtle or deeply funky. Hadda a buy a 9@18v. converter to not have to use the wall wart when it's on my daisy-chain powered board, so that added US$20, but it's wo...

Re: Charles Frank Black Francis Thompson

Record Store Day 2019.. After taking care of some things this morning I got there a good hour after the store had opened and avoided any initial moshing. I had talked with the guys there the prior weekend so knew they had ordered 10 copies apiece of Franks's first couple solo album reissues. I go th...

Re: acoustic meta-material

You jest, but as some flavor of a trumpet mute it might just work, no? I wonder if they could be configured into small cheerio sized units fashioned into curtains for windows or even hung just inside doorways, or placed inside or against doors, or as 4x8 sheets for wall installs. Like a lightweight ...

Re: vinyl collecting ( and surrounding planetary atmosphere )

Nice storage idea rocking individual shelf lighting. Not something you can do with typical IKEA type shelves as there's no headroom. Maybe these have routed grooves for recessed lighting. hmmm. Anyway, these particular shelves belong to Rodger Coleman , one of the most laid back music/vinyl reviewer...
