In some of the other documentation I have from JCC, they say 1/2" which is is marked on the tuning gauge by a metal clip. What I can't figure out is how to physically measure the gap between the plate and damper.

Thank you for the link but I have been to that site a lot but they do not have much info on the 354.

Just picked up an Ampex 354 1/4"stereo tube 2 track.
Pretty decent shape, the run motor capacitors have all totally leaked out so I need those for sure. Anyone have any experience with these machines ? Is it worth getting it going again ? Anyone have the manual/schematics ?
