Re: sm7b died help!

I'd suggest taking it apart to see if the problem is something simple. You can't break it if it's already broken. If you still can't get it working, send it to Shure. I have an SM7 that still works perfectly, after all these years, so I seriously doubt yours has died from old age.

Re: Needing an Analog to Digital interface

Success!!! :D Thanks for all your advices!!! The UA Volt 1 rocks!!! Quite literally a plug and play solution. My signal chain is now completely free of any unwanted noise, and it sounds Full & Rich! I will say that proper cables do matter a lot! I initially tried the Volt 1 using an XLR to TS cable ...

Re: Needing an Analog to Digital interface

Thanks for all of the responses!
I have decided to give the Universal Audio Volt 1 USB-C Audio Interface a try. It's ordered & should be here in about a week. I will post my results when I have the opportunity to check it out.

Thanks Again!

Needing an Analog to Digital interface

Needing an Analog to Digital interface I do spoken word voiceovers for training videos. I am currently using a Shure SM7 into a Pro Co Cough Drop, into a Groove Tubes Brick Preamplifier, into an LA2A. Recording with Adobe Audition into a Dell laptop using Windows 10 Pro, with a stupid cheap XLR to U...

Re: Noise from USB mic rig

Re: Noise from USB mic rig

I will add, that I have been using a different Sennheiser headset mic with absolutely no issues. I was just trying to kick up the vocal quality with a better mic, also I just wanted to use some different mics, and select a "best choice".

Noise from USB mic rig

I recently tried using my Sennheiser 421 for recording onto a laptop, using the latest Adobe Audition. I purchased an xlr to usb cable on Amazon and hooked it up. Result, extremely low volume, so I ran the mic through a Groove Tubes The Brick and now I have plenty of audio but there is a gritty back...

Re: Alesis HD24 - Still a decent option?

By visual reference, I mean the segmented LED VU for each channel. I'm sure you know what I mean, just trying to be clear. Even when bumpping the red zone, I find the HD24 to be very forgiving....not clipped. But I never slam it.

Re: Alesis HD24 - Still a decent option?

Visual reference only. Since live recording is dependant on the FOH guy. If it sounds ok (not a distorted mess) In the room, then there is no problem. Occasionally is ask for some gain staging to get me out of the red on the kick and snare. Other nights I am the FOH....no issues. Great bands sound g...

Re: Alesis HD24 - Still a decent option?

I own two HD24 units. I have recorded literally thousands of hours on them without a single issue. I keep one in a 4-u SKB case & carry a bag of insert cables for recording in clubs directly from the house mixer in discreet multitrack (or at least as discreet as a night club performance gets). The o...
