As I found out by many people here, the Sure SM-7b is a terrific vocal mike. I haven't heard one bad thing about that mic.

I never really understood why a Lacie HDD, or equivalent, is supposed to be better than mounting a reliable brand of HDD into an external drive case. It doesn't seem cost-effective to me. Yeah, me either. I have been using the same western digital mounted in an external firewire IDE case for 5 year...

I've had most success with the ubiquitous Oktava MC-012's not so much as an XY, but more like an AB. I put them about 2-3 feet above the open top, pointing down at the hammers and strings, angled a little bit in maybe, and spaced about 3 feet apart. Something like that. Run them through a nice tube...

Anybody try the M-Audio NRV10 mixer?

I only wish that it had a few more channels and DAW control capability. It's a move in the right direction though!

I believe that they were referring to "fundamental" frequencies. This is the range that makes up the most important element of a particular instrument or voice. The rest are complimentary or octaves of the fundamentals.

How 'bout those Roland VS 2480 series?

The VS 2480DVD has caught my eye. It has most everything I want in a compact recording rig: plenty of channels, automation, editing, keyboard moust & monitor outputs, CD burning, backup capability - it does sooo much. Do any of you have hands-on experience using any of these? And what's your take on...
