I never really understood why a Lacie HDD, or equivalent, is supposed to be better than mounting a reliable brand of HDD into an external drive case. It doesn't seem cost-effective to me. Yeah, me either. I have been using the same western digital mounted in an external firewire IDE case for 5 year...

Two words: De. Humidifier. The mildew is there because the wood et al is moist. Get a dehumidifier fired up in the room and let it run for a few days straight. That'll help get rid of the moisture, which will then cause the mildew to die. After a week or two of dehumidifier action, the smell should...

I've had most success with the ubiquitous Oktava MC-012's not so much as an XY, but more like an AB. I put them about 2-3 feet above the open top, pointing down at the hammers and strings, angled a little bit in maybe, and spaced about 3 feet apart. Something like that. Run them through a nice tube...

Anybody try the M-Audio NRV10 mixer?
I only wish that it had a few more channels and DAW control capability. It's a move in the right direction though!

What's the latest in the B.S. lawsuits that Monster Cable had on any company with the word "Monster" in it? For those of you who don't know, here's just a little bit of what you can find on the internet about this. It gets my blood boiling!! http://www.snowmonsters.com/MonsterCable/truelies.h...

Anybody use any of the Roland VS 2480 machines?
I posted this in the Computer World (DAW & computer recording) but got no useful replies. Maybe it belongs here, so here goes... The VS 2480DVD has caught my eye. It has most everything I want in a compact recording rig: plenty of channels, automation, editing, keyboard moust & monitor outputs, CD b...

How 'bout those Roland VS 2480 series?
The VS 2480DVD has caught my eye. It has most everything I want in a compact recording rig: plenty of channels, automation, editing, keyboard moust & monitor outputs, CD burning, backup capability - it does sooo much. Do any of you have hands-on experience using any of these? And what's your take on...
