I was such a reverse? snob that I never went there when I lived in NYC. I staggered by there a couple times, but I gues I was always waiting for a rebirth of '78-'87 or something. That final b&w photo book that I sa in some barnes and noble was amazing. It was a killer joint for sure, I just never w...

Yeah, my band clark 8 is named after a mental ward. Yeah, I was in one shortly after writing this (thanks Inglewood PD!), but check this badness out: http://myspace.com/plugrelic (i just got a 3 prong plug tattoo...) My old band was called plug. Anyway, yeah, I agree with Kasey. The dilution of "maj...

Econo styles, diy movements, etc. etc. I feel like I've been lucky, or maybe because I got a tape op subscription a long time ago cause it seemed like magic to read something so honest and in depth, but I've had the great fortune to get back into playing music and recording it after a 7 year hiatus ...

I think my first post to tape op messageboard was something about ardour under linux... and I think... it's probably nearly usable... I guess actually it was usable for multitracking in 2001. for your needs, gparted and some other graphical formatter (just format to ext3fs) will do you well... for t...

I can relate to her "tried to make me go to rehab" (I said yes yes yes on the paperwork and then didn't go go go in my case) song for the same reason I could relate to last summer's "crazy" :-) Now.. yeah, I mean... more power to her and I bet she rocks adequately live. I'll probably be sick of the ...

Los Angeles bands... Mondays in April Mr. Ts bowl w/ Clark 8

Hi, I haven't posted here in a while, but we finally got into a real studio and I've put up some rough unmastered mixes on our myspace. Now also we have a residency of 5 free April Mondays at mr. T's bowl in HLP. If you're in a band and would like to play, let me know, cause I have to book 15 bands ...

I agree with the beverage things, but one thing is and I think I've read this... stay away from freezing cold water (or other (cold -edit) bevvies) The coldness constricts your vocal chords and can make them tense up. Also, try not to sing with so much air pressure. I've been working a lot on that. ...

I'm all in. My band just got some free recording time at a nice studio here in LA and we did 9 songs in 4 hours... mind you we didn't write them then and we'd practiced the hell out of them.... but yeah.... the scratch vox are almost doable if I'd stayed on mic more. Anyway, yeah... I'm up as Old Ne...

After seeing them for the first time last year as a 4 piece, I saw them again maybe 2 weeks ago at the Troubadour (w/ Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog (awesome)) and they rocked possibly even harder. When I saw them the first time, I asked the guitar player who stayed (John) where they recorded... and he sa...
