Re: Your favorite slide guitar solo
Let's not forget Dave Gilmour's many contributions to slide guitar....here are some faves that come to mind:
The Narrow Way
Echoes (of course)
Seamus
A Pillow of Winds
Obscured by Clouds
Breathe (can you get more tasteful/subtle)
Shine On
Too many to list!

Re: Analog vs. Digital Debate: Over?
I agree that "form should follow function" and the medium should be chosen based on material. However, the argument (or lack thereof in your opinion) only matters to those of us in the know - read your tape-op articles about the wrens, the shins, etc. Albums don't succeed or fail because they weren...

Re: Analog vs. Digital Debate: Over?
The most persuasive argument I ever read was an interview with Todd Rundgren, who obviously came embedded from the analog side. Now he's 100% digital. He looks at recording as "a means to an end" and nothing more. In the interview (Sound on Sound, I believe), he said that gear is definitely good eno...

Re: Ext. FW Hard drive not booting...help
If it is clicking, you're screwed and you're going to have to pay big bucks for the guys in moon-suits to save your HD. However, if it isn't clicking; 1) Try putting it in the fridge for an hour. Then take it out and see if it boots up (BUT BE READY TO TRANSFER INTO ANOTHER HD QUICKLY...THIS IS A ON...

Re: Wanted for Trade: Alesis HD24
Hi: I'd like a swap for a couple reasons. 1) I want the firewire interface that is availble on the Alesis. Since I mix in Logic, I am transporting the tracks over via USB which can be time consuming. 2) My Ramsa DA7 mixer is finicky about certain devices (wordclock). I was told that the Alesis wordc...

Woudn't it Be Nice is damn good, but the best is in Christine by Siouxsie and the Banshees. I Fought the Law (The Clash -SIX GUNS) is good as well.

Transparent limiter
Can anyone recommend a transparent, 4+ channel limiter? Using for on-location recording to protect from overloads as my plug ins cannot help me with this. THINK CHEAP.
Thanks!!!

OT: Only one for each category please
Even though it's doubtless been asked before around here, for a little Friday fun, please liet your 1) favorite album of all time and 2) the best concert you've ever seen. No 2nds or 3rds, 4ths etc. Just one for each!! (at a minimum, it'll give me some ideas next time I'm at the record store coz' yo...
