Automatic Mixers

Automatic mixers were built for meetings/conferences where more than 1 mic is needed. Anybody use these as a front end for DAW? Do they all typically have "ducking" or can you run all channels simultaneously? I'd appreciate any advice. thanks

Re: Goodbye Uncle John

I once read his favorite band was The Fall. Very sad news indeed, especially for our UK friends......

Re: Yamaha MG 10/2

One is on its way to me (eBay: 50 bucks!!). Will report back on preamp quality, etc. For such low $, seems to have lots of features.

Re: Just upgraded to Panther: Logic/MOTU user

Based on the ROI, it seems that $299 is a bit too much to ask for for the upgrade.......I'll hold out a while

I have a G5 dual processor; just upgraded to Panther and am about to install Logic 6.3/drivers for MOTU 828.

Do these run smoothly on Panther? Any issues I shoudl be aware of?

Thanks!!

Equipment & Temperature, etc.

OK, I know the "textbook" answer to this question, but here goes: One of the only spaces I currently have to record in my house at the moment is in my attic (doing renovations to my main space, which will not be done for awhile). My attic is NOT heated/insulated at the moment...I live in NY State, s...

All I can say is MAKE SURE you have no water problems before you do any construction.

Preamps

Hi: I have a Motu 828 that I use for on location stuff, which only has 2 mic level inputs (XLR). I am looking to add 2-4 preamps to my set up and was wondering a) if anyone has used the Yamaha MG10/2 Stereo Mixer....are the preamps any good (in line with Soundcraft portable desks/presonous/ART budge...

Rode NT4 Preamp

Hello: I have a MOTU 828 and recently used it to record a live performance (no mixer...). I had condensors going into channels 1 & 2 on the 828 (with XLR/phantom). I put the Rode NT4 into channels 3 & 4 on the back of the 828. I used the 9v battery on the NT4, which normally sparks up enough power f...

Re: johnny ramone r.i.p.

Stu's dead. I saw End of the Century last Friday. It was REALLY good. My wife even liked it and she hates punk! The only funny thing about it was that ALL the Ramones (Johnny, Joey and Dee Dee) were asked whether Tommy made an important contribution to their sound. They ALL said "No" (even Johnny).....
