Thank you John, I just did exactly that. I thought I had the link, but I guess I didn't till you gave it to me. :) PS this is where it's getting weird. I put the whole thing through, and got the page with the receipt on it, where they ask you not to refresh, so I bookmarked the page, and then collap...

Me neither
I've not gotten mine yet either. Hoping to see it soon. Been so busy last month I didn't notice it until today. I told a friend about the mag yesterday, and so, I just went to the site, and realised I haven't gotten it yet either. I am patient, very patient. PS I just wound up re-subscribing. I can ...

Re: Alternate tunings
Brahem is from Tunisia. You can get the CD at Amazon. One of the hot new players, if you didn't know better, you'd think he was picking a guitar. I have some Bashir. He's real good. Old school. Real Makam centered. If you've not heard Brahem, check him out. He's another kettle of fish entirely. He's...

Re: Alternate tunings
Hi ubertar, my pleasure, if I can assist. Yep, that's the oud tuning I started with. Then I put the pesky A string in to G a step lower, and the F down a minor third to D, and the the sixth, which I should take off, to a barely audible G below that. If you put a guitar or tenor banjo(sounds alot lik...

Re: Alternate tunings
Oh cool, a Tar. One I don't have. I have a Saz,,two in fact,(baglama and cura) and it uses a re-entrant tuning, like a ukelele, viz., D, down to G, up to C(middle C), where the middle string is the low one. I tune my oud G, D, G, C, and the sarode, C, G, C, F, a fourth higher, same ratio, low to hig...

For alot of the really small items, a plastic fishing tackle box works well.

Re: Fake Sitar
You could always get a real sitar. They're actually pretty easy to get these days, and don't cost a whole lot.

Re: Recommend nearfield monitors.
No flames here. For 2K, you could get what I'm using(though I've not any experience with anything else, besides a pair of Event PS6's), which is a pair of Tannoy 800A's and a Tannoy TS10 subwoofer. They are very accurate. The half space switch on the 800A doesn't process below 150 Hz, and the TS10 t...

I was referring to the lead player's instrumentals. Real Fender/Vibro/Surf, with a graceful feel.

Cool Stuff!! Thanks HypnotistCollector. It holds its own. Would probably make Joe Meek proud. I really like the guitarist's stylings.
