for the drums, do you hear the phasing more in the cymbals or the snare during the song? the snare mic is picking up quite a bit of the ride. maybe it's the interaction between the overhead mic and the snare mic that you are hearing?

critique my mix (concerns with low end and tape echo)

Hi, Can anyone give my mix a listen and offer up suggestions on what i might want to fix. i'm not exactly sure how well the low end translates, if it's muddy, etc. also, this is the first time i used a tape echo on the vocals. any thoughts on that? thanks. http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~jerchen/mix/le...

api / neve good for non-rock music?

the common word heard around here is that api and neve mic pres are great particularly for rock music (drums, guitars, etc.), but what about stuff like classical music? would you guys still use these pres for violins, cellos, pianos? or are mic pres better suited for this sound?

having a song re-mixed

I'm an artist who just had an album mixed by an engineer. He did a great job in general, but there are 2 songs that I'm thinking I want something different out of. I'm thinking of either asking him to remix the songs or asking a competitor of him to mix the songs. From an artist perspective, I have ...

going to tape during mastering?

Hi, Question for anyone... I'm finishing up an album and will be mixing it in the next few days. I've been tracking digitally through protools. I'll probably mix out of box.. In the past I've mixed down to 1/2" and have liked how it gives the tracks a little extra glue, but I don't have access to a ...
