I am really fascinated by dub music and have pulled off some dub delays on a few drum breaks on things I have recorded (ran the Memory Man off an aux) but it was more of a "Walking on the Moon" kinda whitewashed dub rip off. I have been thinking of digging through a bunch of my recordings and...

Re: Under the Covers Vol. 1
Yep I mixed monitors at one of their LA shows about a year and a half ago. Susanna is a sweetheart. I dig the CD, nothing to write home about, but I let my bartender borrow it and I think he's gonna throw it in the jukebox.JASIII wrote:And Susanna Hoffs is still hot as hell.

About 5 years ago they were doing this deal where you could get a PreSonus MP-20 and an Oktava Tube LDC for like $599. I thought Wow that's a pretty good deal. So I walk into GC in Pasadena and asked the guy for the deal, but instead of the tube mic I wanted the ML-52 ribbon mic. First he told me th...

About 3 months ago I walk into a local GC that usually has good used gear. In the pro audio section they have a fairly beat up Dolby 323 NR unit marked down from $4999 to $29 I ask the kid at the counter if the price was right, he told me yes so I told him I'd buy it. Near the dolby unit was an old ...

Just get this and have both  http://www.advancedaudiorentals.com/images/aws900.jpg What kind of mic pre's do you have? personally I'd go with the control surface. I think it's more important what you do with a mix then whet gear it goes through. You can have good front end but it doesn't reall...

About a year ago I recorded a band in ProTools which I rarely do (they didn't want to pay for tape and wanted to be able to edit everything). I did a few mixes "in the box" and didn't like the way things were going, it was really hard to mix with a mouse. Every mix I did sounded sub standard, I figu...

You could always stripe SMPTE on one of the tracks and lock it to your computer, then record 3 tracks at a time, but then you might as well get a 1" 8 track or something like that and lock it together. But I thought you were trying to move away from tape. Why not just get a rack of old ampex or scul...

I was drinking iced tea and when that keyboard intro started I almost gaged and had to run to the sink to spit it out I was laughing so hard. Then about 10 seconds later I took another sip, and then the vocals came in and once again I had to run to the sink to keep from spitting tea all over the pla...

My buddy and I came up with a gain boost petal that we sell... http://www.myspace.com/crowncityengineering A lot of the time my studio becomes testing zone. So it kinda works both ways bands come in to record, and many check out the petal, and vise versa. Making a studio / boutique amp shop could re...

It's a 456 thing. I had a box from 1992 that was total crap by 2005 but I have used 499 from the early 90's and have no problems. Also I think any 3M tape is bad by now. I went through a bunch or old reels of tape from the 80's about three years ago when Quantegy initially closed, and everything but...
