...and a (ahem) Behringer B1 up close to the bridge. Wow.... I thought I was the only one that was going to have to come in here and admit that I LOVED the cello sounds I got with my B1. Don't get me wrong, I really don't like that mic for much of anything, but I'll be damned if it didn't get some ...

I'm a bigger fan of "Her Mystery Not Of High Heels And Eye Shadow" than anything he's ever done.

Which is saying a lot, since I pretty much love everything he's ever done.

We got this at the radio station here at GW a few weeks ago, and I jumped at the chance to review it once I saw the description (Scott Solter rules).

I was not dissapointed, though I kinda wish I was in your spot, what with being able to watch him nuke all your songs :)

I know...it's working fine now. I completely bypassed the mixers - I plugged in a CD player direct to the RCA inputs of tracks 1 and 2 on the 38 and played a sample that peaked at around 0 vu. When playing back, the VUs read the same. == This is the current situation: When I record a sample with th...

thats cool and all but " due to the 38 being set at -10, and the allen at +4" i still think that this isn't really the problem and im the guy who mistakenly said it first, so DONT listen to me. im seriously a moron compared to someone like brian. you should read what he had to say again, because i ...

Ok guys, I think i've figured this one out. Whoever said that this is probably the combination of one or more problems: you were right. Problem a) Dirty dirty tape heads. Yeah, I know I said that I cleaned them recently, and I did. But I had been doing some stuff with this other reel of tape that I ...

which brings me to my next point. its entirely possible that the A&H is running at -10 and the bery was +4 there might be a switch on the allen to jump up to +4 if not then you will have to recalibrate the 38 for it. check the manual. I was going to say the opposite of this (I think it's possible t...

Tascam 38 levels problem. Help needed ASAP!!!

This is kindof a repost - i orginally thought this probelm was mixer-related but now I know it's not. I've have a Tascam 38 for the better part of the past 2 years, and with the exception of a bad pinch roller, everything's been working smoothly. Now, I returned home from this last semester of colle...

Mixer humming problem.

So here's the lowdown: I have an Allen &Heath Mixwizard 16:2 mixer. It was in a hard case when it was dropped by my father, who was attempting to prove to me the he could carry it up the stairs when, in fact, he could not. Ugh. In any case, i have noticed now that every time there is anything plugge...

"Axes" by Electrelane is an example of an albini record where the trackign was all done in the same room live.

"The power out" , which is the other electrelane album that was alson done by albinie, might also be that way, but for some reason I'm inclined to think that it's not.

I find it very hard to write whole songs all by myself...usually i'll need a loopstation pedal or a quick 4 track recorder or something to kind of lay things out in front of me so i can listen to it. As a result, I usualyl go into the studio with about 60-70% of my stuff being little "fragments" of ...

Did he pay DC Comics to use the image of Superman? No. That's why the CDs with superman on the cover almost got pulled off the shelves. but they didn't, cause Asthmatic Kitty (which i believe is the label that Sufjan runs) just didn't want to bother recalling all of them, essentially. However, if y...

Assuming we're basing this entirely on what we deem to be the albums that have the most value to us in their production and engineering.

1. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

2. The White Album - The Beatles

3. Black Foliage: Animation Music Vol. 1 - The Olivia Tremor Control

Holy shit. No one has mentioned Bell Orchestre's 'Recording a Tape the Colour of Light'. This is an instrumental post-rock project that shares members with the Arcade Fire. I've been trying to get a hold of this album for a few weeks now, but wasn't having much luck and was too lazy to order it. To...
