Meantime I've learned that the RS-140 are FM cans and introduce no delay, so I'll be making sure to go that analog radio route.

If anyone has other suggestions for headphone models in this category, I'd arpeggiate it. :P

Need some wireless headphone learnin'

I need to supply a performer with wireless headphones for recording and overdubbing. That may be against orthodoxy, just plain wrong, blah blah, etc., but what I'd like to know is whether there's a nice light'n comfy pair out there somewhere that aren't going to introduce some processing delay. One ...

I've heard some very good things about the Izotope Rx TW Y'know I had gone to their website to try'n get the skinny on that one, and it looked like it mainly did static filtering for hum/buzz type noise, which is not what I'm looking for. Or maybe I was misinterpreting the description - I might hav...

Best affordable noise/buzz/hum reduction software/plug-in?

I got me some seriously buzzy single coil type guitar tracks here that are in desperate need of dynamic noise reduction (or hum canceling might be cool). Yes of course they should've been recorded with less noise, but the takes are a done deal and now it's time to deal with them in the mix. I think ...

computer iso boxes from brick'n mortar retailers?

Suddenly I need an iso box for my couple computers and outboard drives. Last time I checked, Elias over at Silence Cases has the best bang for the buck on mail order versions. He'll get ya a custom one for $1,000 including shipping across country. I need mine yesterday though. There aren't any of th...

Good point about actual high frequencies coming from a magnetic guitar pickup. I suppose I'm really concerned more about what should be called upper mid range, like between around 4-8k, and whether it would likely be rolled off with a Radial JDI passive. Stuff in that range can be useful to me for a...

Now I'm wishin I had both active and passive models to compare so I could choose the winner for my particular application.

I'd love to snag some tranny big McFatness on the way in, but probably wouldn't want to be losing significant higher freq content in the process.....

Are you not able (too loud/no amp) to mic up an amp, or do you just prefer the sound that way? More a case of not being able to mic up an amp. And being able "play the part now, get the right amp sound after" (most likely with plugs), does have it's advantages for me, since I am both the player and...

Now we're getting down to the nitty gritty - thanx MC. Passive DIs use transformers which have an input impedance that is too low for passive guitar pickups and it impacts the sound. [/b] So is there a consensus 'round here now that a Radial passive DI would likely adversely impact the sound of pass...

Oh I should research this topic better.

I was thinking that the active version of the DI would output a level and impedance that would allow for plugging it into the Fireface line in, bypassing the mic pre, but apparently not!

which is the best sounding Radial DI for guitars?

Which is the best sounding Radial DI for guitars with passive pickups that is. I'm currently DI recording with some old P-90's, a Bartolini floating humbucker, and a PAF type. I'll be plugging this DI into my Fireface. So if i wanna go into a line in, bypassing the mic pre, I gotta get an active mod...

OK well that does it.

I'm going to brazenly start a new topic on the board here, and it shall be entitled "which is the best sounding Radial DI for guitars with passive pickups?"

Of course, if you were happy with the sounds you were getting before... Yeah, I really will have to do an A/B with my guitars before deciding the Radial's a keeper, but since I was having to brighten the Jazz box up after capture, and I've just heard this first hand report of the Fireface Di being ...
