another resilient channel question

I've found very different answers regarding the installation of rc and was hoping someone with experience might be able to weigh in: What size space should be left between the ceiling and the first track of rc? I've read anywhere from 3" to 12" recommended. And is this measurement from the studs/joi...

thanks for the help and the info... Just to clarify, I guess I was most concerned with a not completely isolated new room (some connection to the existing structure) and the statement: "For applications where low frequency isolation is important, resilient channel is not recommended." As stuntbutt p...

green glue/resilient channel low freq question

here is a quote from the green glue web page under FAQ's: "11. Can Green Glue be used in conjunction with decoupling techniques? Yes, and better performance can be had. For walls the preferred decoupling methods are double studs > staggered studs > modern sound clips > resilient channel. For applica...

I've got Rod's book, but didn't find the particular answer to this question. Definitely a must have though, you're right.

And thanks, Ethan, kinda what I figured. I'll put in a plug for the many helpful videos you've made. Again, super helpful material.

non parallel walls (studio build)

So I'm planning on a room within a room construction of a live space inside my garage and I'm wondering if non parallel walls should be planned into the design given my dimensions. The room will be roughly 16 x 19 with a pitched ceiling that peaks at about 12 or 13 feet. Is this room too small to wo...

Question re: two leaf / three leaf construction

First, I do have Rod's book but I'm sure I missed some stuff and misunderstood other stuff... Accepting that three leaf systems are bad when aiming for a soundproof wall construction, when does the space between the second and third leaf (or first and second, i guess depending how you look at it) be...

I'm actually selling a copy of "The Art of Mixing" 2005 second edition, by David Gibson for $25 shipped (I posted a while ago in the buy/sell/trade forum). It's kind of conceptual and he uses color graphics to describe mixing visually though there are definitely facts and figures in there as well. I...

I'm probably somehow totally missing the obvious, but I couldn't find info on the Black Lion site about their ada8000 mod. Definitely interested if anyone can point me in the right direction.
