Re: Oddball Compressor ... Executone M270

Had my local tech go over it and add a power supply.... meter moves and ...... maybe it compresses..... a little. Pretty underwhelmed but it does look cool. If it is compressing it is only doing so very slightly... not nearly what the meter seems to show. I'll get an A/B test up soon..

Oddball Compressor ... Executone M270

...a little bourbon infused late night ebaying has led me to another "fix-it-up" oddball piece of gear.... a SS Executone M270 compressor. It will need a power supply and info on the web is scarce so I'm reaching out to see if any of you have any info... I haven't gotten it yet but here's some porn ...

Great little sleeper microphones... ADVENT MDC-1

I haven't posted in forever so I thought I would jump back in with some cool mics I scored at the ol' thrift store... The ADVENT MDC-1! These are low imp. cardioid, balanced tape recorder microphones with an attached 20' cable terminated with a TRS plug. These mics were made by Beyer in the 60's and...

bad jacks...... continuity tester shows the tip and the tip jumper are still connected when a cable is inserted. Junk jacks...I'll post the seller so no one else makes the same mistake.

I doubt it's a bad jack as well.... just does not make any sense. Unfortunately I do not have a schematic. I am going off instructions found on the web (ditch road records) and the way they did it does work, tapping the signal and removing it from the mix bus. As far as the jacks.... well, I have wi...

1/4" switching jack question for direct outs...

so I finally fired up the solder gun in an attempt to do a direct out mod to my Yamaha M406. I ordered switching mono jacks so I could keep the channels in the mixbus until I inserted a cable for the direct out. I soldered my first on in to make sure it's going to work and I do get the direct signal...

.....This thing is still sitting on the shelf. If anyone has schemo's it would help a bunch. My current plan is to re-rack this mess in a better..more usable case, add switchable direct outs for each channel and a 20db (maybe 10db) pad at the input...
