Going to try this with a couple of Coles 4038s a couple of weeks. What I'm trying to figure out is how much coverage am I going to need overhead. Doing 70s trucker CW mcall type of stuff, with a 5 piece in a 10ft celling 12 x 16 room mostly dead. Last time we did a 414buls in omni right in the middl...

I use it when needed, but especially on the API 3124 paired with drum overheads....almost always SDCs and LDCs are too hot going in. I know what you mean, those 312's are really delicate with loud sources, but if you can maintain control of it, its a fantastic pre. Even LDC on guitar cabs, I'm alwa...

http://www.vintageking.com/TC-Electronic-M2000-Effects-Processor-used?sc=14&category=108 $500 I have a TC3000, and it has some wonderful verbs. I end up using the room presets more than anything else. The 'Special' effects presets arent that wild, just some basic stuff. I have been using Echo Boy fr...

I fell in love with the Groove Tubes GT-66 for a while. Great for male tenors and female altos. Only bad experience was with a floor tom.

On my end... I have not used the NI stuff for years. Because to my ears it sounds too artificial. As to an electric piano sounds, what else is out there? Wow for a while NI's B4 and Pro53 (prophet) were the only emulations that I thought didn't sound artificial. The Upright Piano is just fantastic....

Ryan, From where I sit: Blaming a software company for your self perceived lack of preparation for a recording session? Think on that. Cheers, and have a great Easter Week! Look, I wasn't ripping them a new one or something, but after I got off the phone, it just didn't feel quite right. I felt lik...

Should this software retailer have done a better job?

So I found out I had a mix session tonight where I needed some virtual electric pianos. I have been eying NI?s Scarbee pack which includes 3 of these packages. Individualy $79.00 each or all for $169.00, great deal! I want it! The hang-up: I need one of them tonight and they only allow you to downlo...

I guess it is probably Facebook doing most of the damage. I use to be answering replies, and commenting on posts just to keep myself occupied during down times. Now Facebook provides that for most.

The UA m610 was my first serious mic pre, and although I have a few more choices now then I did then, its still a go-to unit on some things. Yep the DI is my favorite part. On passive electric bass (Pbass) it growls when driven. I prefer it over my BAE 1023 and API DIs on most things. Good for pedal...

I mean what do you do when they ask for the lead guitar to be more on the ceiling and less on the floor? Cut 300Hz and below, Boost 2khz and above? Musicians will talk colorfully like that pretty often. I've found it's been more productive to try to imagine (or ask) what they mean. More fun, too. E...
