I've been intrigued by the MAAG thing too. I saw a yourube video of Cliff Maag explaining how when you set the frequency at 40k (yes FORTY KILOHERTZ) and then crank the boost, it make a subtle effect in the audible high range because it's the bottom of the slope. I might break down and get the plug...

The allure of adding EQ up top. The fear of adding too much

After 10 years of mixing on a fairly normal basis, I am finally just now getting confident with adding EQ at all. I have always been a subtractive eq wielder. Applying judicious amounts of 10-12k just seemed scary to me. Every time I did there seemed to be at least one reference source (ear buds ver...

Coutry pickin' of the electric almost requires some compression for all of those quick hits to come out evenly.

I have the TC3000 and I never use the Dynamics alone as they are hard to get to the controls but the compression/De-essers sound ok.

That happened to my v2 ATB, well something like that. All I did was work out the dust in the 'mon' knob in the master section. Been fine every since. Maybe it's a sign of something to come.

Hey Jim, any mods for these boards to quite them down?

Only buy versatile gear, no one trick ponies.
Only keep low maintaince gear, borrow/rent the temperamental stuff.

I own everything I have outright, no debit personal or otherwise.

When nobody walks through that door, if feels much better.

I have a Groove Tubes 66, I got from GC about ten years ago. Has a very nice high end works great with female vocals as well as strident male vocals. I keep it around because it makes a killer ride cymbal spot mic.

That's it! Have fun with some seriously wide stereo :) Going to try it out on a small 5 piece kit, I will start by placing the Blumlein pair 3 feet in front with a 414 in omni hung low (head level) in the middle of the kit. I hope to make that the basic sound. I've found the 414 in omni works great...

Take one of the clips off the microphones. Flip it over. Put it back on. The mic center line won't match the bar in the middle of the mount, but the two mics will match. For some reason I'm having difficulty putting it in words :) If you don't get it let me know and I'll snap some pictures. Thanks ...

Coles 4038 stereo bar help!

Super excited to finnaly get the opportunity to use my new 4038s in Blumlein for drum overheads (more in front than over head). Having trouble understanding how AEA meant this stereo bar to work in Blumlien. I attach the 4038 SA adapters to the bar like they did in the photo but the center line of t...
