Re: why OS X and a MAC instead of a PC and XP ??
ok...so defrag and disk repair aren't the same thing...but is disk repair the closest thing for a mac to a defrag? You are correct, running defragmentation and disk repair are two seperate processes. But, running disk repair is not the closest thing to a defrag! There are several companies that mak...

Re: Should your laptop be dedicated to Pro Tools only??
It's perfectly normal to have an array of software on your PowerBook. The problem comes into play when your trying to do multiple things at the same time. So as long as your not tracking a song, playing video files, editing photos, doing massive plugin effects and surfing the web you should be fine.

Looks like we'll all be dead or dying from lung cancer within a four year period. Not to mention nobody will have health insurance to cover it and we'll all be unemployed anyway. We're screwed in the worst way possible.

Re: DJ'ing using a laptop
Just as a note Final Scratch is quite amazing. I've been spinning records for over 10 years, so I've paid my dues lugging around 5 crates of records to shows. It's still amazing to me how it works. Although I still carry around a crate or two, just as a back up. You never know with this computer stu...

Re: (idoti qusteino) Can I put OSX on an old IMac? (g3 333 M
Thanks - hmmm.... can I install memory in my imac myself? I mean, I know I can, but what is the recommended procedure? It looks like I could upgrade to OS 9 for super cheap just to use it with the mpc... I wonder if there's an os9 version of pd or max around... I'm sure you're more then qualified t...

Visit the link below to see if your G3 meets the requirements. It should in theory be ok, but it never hurst to check. Make sure you have enough RAM though as OS X requires at least 128 Mb (if my memory serves me correctly).

Re: Mac or PC debate
In all honesty, I don't really give a damn what works better by public opinon. Macs work better for me (audio and graphics) so I use them. And it's not that it's because I never use PC's or that I'm ignorant to their ablilities as I was confronted with them daily at my previous job as an electronic ...

No, I don't. Sorry. Infact I've never even been to SF. Been to LA. That's it as far as CA is concerned. You should have a good time though. At the very least you won't freeze your ass off.

Re: AES 117TH SAN FRAN
Anyone going to San Francisco for the AES convention. I found a very inexpensive hostel right by the convention center which is not booked. Any students out there trying to do it on the cheap? This may be cool. www.pontiachotel.com I wish I could. :( School takes priority. Nice picture of Studio 4!...

Re: I want one so badly....
And I didnt called an intranet "a little internet" (or even insinuate it). No need to put words in my mouth :) Nor did I mention I2. No. Rhintz did. My bad. Although I knew intranets aren't little internets. The whole Gore thing was kind of an inside joke too. So no need to take my stupidity for fa...

Re: I want one so badly....
No. There is more than one internet. You may be thinking of an intranet - which is a privately owned network. While it may be part of the internet it's not necessarily connected to it. As far as I know only one internet exists as such the name implies. For more in depth explaination feel free to cl...

I was about to recommend The Black Keys but it seems gravy boat beat me to it. Not bad for a two-piece band.
