I looked some more, and found a set of shures with 2 pg81s and other shure drum mics. I was thinking that my friend would do better with this. and it is only 400 bucks. If nothing else, he could use the 81s and the kick and snare mic if everything else sounds like crap. Any ideas?

so if I want to get a decent tube to replace the one in my bellari mp503, but don't want to spend $50 bucks for a used Tele (much less $150 for an NOS), are there some suggestions? Or are there some used tubes that would work?

Yeah. I tracked my electric through it (my fender M80 pre into the bellari) and it sounded very, VERY good clean. The tube added a real nice warmth to it and the fender preserved the "fender sound".
