Re: cheap electret condenser mod idea
Yeah. Thanks for the info. I don't know as far as voltage mods. The recommended mod for the pzm seems to rely on the fact that the 6V batteries fit in the battery compartment. My mic uses a AAA, not a AA, so I don't know if it would fit. I guess I could buy one and see. Another suggested mod for the...

cheap electret condenser mod idea
Hello all. I have a cheap Realistic (Tandy/Radio Shack) electret condensor mic. I use it to mic my acoustic, and it actually doesn't sound half bad. However, I was thinking that it should theoretically be possible to modify my mic using a different (better) capsule, thus improving it's sound. I shou...

Re: 8 mic inputs w/pres and drum mic sets (recommendations??
I looked some more, and found a set of shures with 2 pg81s and other shure drum mics. I was thinking that my friend would do better with this. and it is only 400 bucks. If nothing else, he could use the 81s and the kick and snare mic if everything else sounds like crap. Any ideas?

Re: 8 mic inputs w/pres and drum mic sets (recommendations??
yeah. I looked at the audix set. what about this ? It comes with 2 pencil condesers. He could get a third condenser or a 57 and be pretty well off as far as numbers. But maybe they suck? The thing with the 57s is that they are about $70 or $80 a piece (new, anyways. He could get used, but I would be...

Re: 8 mic inputs w/pres and drum mic sets (recommendations??
Thanks for your help. Yeah, the digi wouldn't work, as it only has 2 mic level inputs. I had found the behringer, but I didn't know about how well it sounded. I also hadn't heard about the Aardvark. I did some investigation on my own as well. Here is what I found thus far: Preamps M-Audio 8 Channel ...

8 mic inputs w/pres and drum mic sets (recommendations???)
I have a friend who is wanting to get a setup to record drums onto his pc. What he needs is about 8 channels or so (give or take) to mic his set (he has a four tom set). He will need pres and inputs. It is preferable to him that it is external, although if there is a good internal unit you know of, ...

Mic Modeler help. Old Turner Dynamic mic.....
Hi. I'm using Antares Mic Modeler, and am looking for suggestions for what settings I should use on it. There is a list of the mic models avaliable here . What I need is two things. A. (and this is more important) what type of mic should I list as the mic being used? I have an old Turner model 700 d...

Re: the old tube religion
so if I want to get a decent tube to replace the one in my bellari mp503, but don't want to spend $50 bucks for a used Tele (much less $150 for an NOS), are there some suggestions? Or are there some used tubes that would work?

Re: black lion bellari mp105 mod
Yeah. I tracked my electric through it (my fender M80 pre into the bellari) and it sounded very, VERY good clean. The tube added a real nice warmth to it and the fender preserved the "fender sound".

Re: the old tube religion
So where are all the tubes for all the new equipment coming out every year coming from? Is there some stockpile of unopened tubes somewhere?

the old tube religion
Are there newly made tubes that are good sounding? Why is it that everyone says to buy vintage? Have we forgotten how to make good sounding tubes? or is this like the vintage guitar debate? I mean, they make tons of tube equipment still. Shouldn't there be some new tubes that sound good? (and I don'...
