for the past few years, when i can't or won't mic a guitar amp, i generally use either a Tech 21 Blonde pedal or Liverpool pedal direct. and if i'm REALLY in a hurry, i dig out the Digitech DF7 Distortion Factory pedal i got for $20 at a pawn shop and use the "MIX" output. 4 of the 7 models actually...

it's not bad, especially after some tweaking. the TRS ins and outs are a nice bonus, too.

i have a little 1 watt Realistic amp (320-2040) i bought in 1984 i use for this. it has a pretty tough yet detailed clean sound through the "aux" input and the "mic" input makes for a really explosive amp-blowing-up fuzz/distortion. next in line of succession is one of a pair of Vox Pathfinder 10s w...

forgot these (photos from the seller, they're in a rack at my place now). $60 each, if memory serves: Ibanez DM1000 - 8-bit DDL from 1983. great character-loaded sound and does gapless hold. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5335/8990227039_be2a51ac3c_c.jpg Ibanez HD1000 - 8-bit DDL and pitch transposer...

Cool purchase, Ref. I'm kind of lusting over that miniBrute. GJ go for it! it's really inspiring and fun and useful. great sounds, even with one oscillator and a sub-oscillator. partly due to all the modulation possibilities and also cos of the waveform mixing. also fun pushing external audio throu...

since the top of the year: - Arturia MiniBrute, a really awesome little analogue monosynth. - $new - Digitech Studio Vocalist (the 2U one from '95); it's like ELO in a box. - $100 - dbx 166 (not the A or XL, just plain 166) - $140 - Digitech DF-7 Distortion Factory. it's all the gain effects from t...

Gibson bought Tascam?

*headexplodey*

i remember when Gibson bought Oberheim and then held a pillow over their heads.

funnily enough, Gibson themselves were once owned by one of the companies who had bought Moog Music at one time (late 70s-early-80s). can't remember the name.
