Auction ends today.

It's also.work noting that this has a preamp output and a limiter input, so you can use the preamp and limiters independently of each other. The limiter is an opto limiter, la4a-type thing.

You can also just use any monitors you want and simply record a pass with no one in the room and play that track out of phase with the vocal. It will cancel everything but the vocal. Mix that to another track. You do have to be very careful about touching the mic. If it moves during the session, it ...

Like everyone else said, if it sounded like crap in one mic, sounded like crap in the other mic AND sounds like crap with both mics, why did you hit record? There are two ways to get rid of the comb filtering: 1. delay the close mic to match the far mic. About 1ms per foot of difference. 2. Pick the...

Langevin Dual Vocal Combo

I'm finally letting this go. It's an awesome preamp with an LA3A-style limiter on each channel and shelving EQ. It is great on everything, but especially vocals. The limiter can get crazy reduction before you even hear it. It has the classic vocal sound of the 70's and 80's. It's also great on acous...

In Nuendo/cubase, there is a a panner mode that gives you a separate panner for the left and right sides of the stereo file. This lets you do anything you want with either side of the stereo image. I can't imagine there isn't something in protools that accomplishes the same thing. It might be a pann...

Go ahead and A/B the two mixdown mediums and choose the one that sounds best for your project. If the project is better off with more clarity, go digital. If it's better off with the creamy goodness of tape, use that. Find a mastering place that does work that you like the sound of and use them. Don...

It starts with the guitar and the amp. The reason that you need less distortion than you think is because when you double the part, it will sound more distorted than it is. I have actually found that if you dial in a darker sound, you can add a bunch of high shelf in the mix and bring up the air and...

My rule of thumb about this: If the effect is part of the sound of that part, use the pedal. If the effect is going to be something done to the part, do it in the box. In other words, the spring reverb in the Fender amp is actually part of the sound, so you would record it that way. A reverb that yo...

There are only two reasons for going out of the box: 1. you have a great console/outboard gear that will blow away any of the plugins you have. 2. Workflow. Chances are, the workflow in the box is probably better, since there will be a good amount of setup just to get all the tracks to their own out...

It kind of depends how distorted the guitar is and what it's function in the song is. If it is just rhythm guitar and it's reasonably distorted, you can probably just take a big scoop out of the middle and put it in the back of the mix, much like a string pad. If it's a rhythm part and it is doubled...

Man...... Narrowed it down to WHAT i'm looking for and can't find a board to fit the bill. Basically I want a board with FireWire, at least 16 channels and motorized faders. Cant find one with all 3 anywhere! The Behringer X-32 has all that. It has both USB and firewire. With a router, you can run ...

The sony board is good, but older.

Motorized faders also allow the board to use layers. Like 32 channels on 16 faders. Which also gives the board other possibilities like sends on faders, which is when you can build monitor and headphone mixes with the faders instead of dealing with the aux knobs.

I had a Behringer X32 for a while, used it both for live and studio, it worked great. It also has the option to get personal monitor controls. Using ethernet cable, you string these controls boards around and each person gets to mix their own headphone mix from a 16 channel mixer of their own. It's ...

To directly answer your question, no there is no external mic input. But if he simply plugs a mic into a channel and sends that channel to the headphone mix, he can use your switch to turn it on and off.

How far are you dropping it? You really can't drop it more than 10-15% without it sounding all messed up.

However, in the preferences, there is a parameter that allows you to change the algorithm that is used for the time stretching.

It is always easier to speed things up than slow them down.
