My main guitar is a 62 jazzmaster (not a reissue). It's my favorite guitar, to my ear it's the perfect mix between a telecaster and a gibson: more articulated than a lespaul and more body than a tele. The main problem with the jazzmaster is that there is not a lot of sustain, but when I really need ...

Recording levels, BF meter bridge and clipping
I made a little experiment at home after reading a lot of stuff here about recording levels but there was something wrong.... here is what I did, I plugged my guitar straight in the 002, opened the BF meter bridge on the "peak" and 0 setting, I raised the gain of the preamp until the level clipped, ...

Places to buy stompbox kits online??
I never build anything and I want to start with something easy with explicit instructions and parts, I ran across this site: http://fuzzboxworld.com where they sell a diy beginner fuzz for 35$,
do you know of other companies who have similar or better kits?

Like almost any of the newer Behringer pedals that I've tried, it kinda sounds like what it looks like, but not quite. I have both the Big Muff and Small Stone replicas. They're both tiny SMD circuits that are based on the E-H circuits. Somehow they both sound a little less rich and a bit thinner t...

but what about discrete? that means something, no? Not really. Do some googling, you'll see. Really? I knew "class a" didn't meant much , but I thought "Discrete. no op amps. only transistors, resistors and capacitors" at least meant something. So I guess there is really no way to figure if a pream...

How about the Digimax FS "discrete Class A preamps"
They advertise the preamps as "discrete Class A". Are they really quality preamps or is it total advertising bullshit? Do you have experience with them? If they are good, this seem to be a real bargain for 8 preamps + a/d/a convertion, but before spending the dough I want to hear from a real user, n...

Recording for vinyl on computer ??
If I'm doing a record in protools and I want a vinyl pressing, do I really need to record at 88.2 or 96? Is there really a big noticable difference on an entire mix from 44.1 to a higher sampling rate? I mean, when I listen an album , cd version vs vinyl version, I hear a difference. Will I get as m...

the funny thing about MArquee Moon is that for year I only listened to the cd version, and I thought it was a great album but I didn't really liked the sound, way too sterile. The good news is that the original recording (vinyl) is not sterile at all, it probably sound more like what Television used...
