Marquee Moon on vinyl...
Just bought Marquee Moon on vinyl (the "4 men with beards" reissue), before I owned the cd version and holy shit.... the sound of the vinyl is so sweet, it's not even subtle, and I don't own a high end turntable (I have a recent radio shack turntable). The drums, the guitars, the bass, everything so...

As a digital recording novice, there is something I don't get, when you said whith this clock everything get 15% better, does that mean that if you record/mix stricktly on an analog setup (2" to neve, no computer involved) the result will be sooo much better than with the computer without a really e...

I did a record at studio frisson few years ago, this place is great. Lot of awesome vintage gear and they have a super rare model of Neve board. Also great live room. They used to be a semi-private studio, I mean , you had to have some references from someone who know the studio owner to record ther...

I don't worry so much about that, it's just that after listening to some samples on another messageboard and on the BLA website, there was a difference (quite big), but to tell you the true, with the test I did myself, listening in AKG K240, I hardly hear a difference, I feel there is something on b...

002R converters TEST: A/B sound samples
I used to record on tape in the past, and recently bought a 002r to start working on computer, thinking it would be the same, just using the computer as a modern "tape machine", but sadly I discovered converters paranoia (I love to mix using outboard gear, so DA/AD convertion) and the joys of latenc...

at which point a poor converter degrade a great preamp?
Few months ago I bought great preamps (Sage) and it made a huge difference in my setup, but after listening to an online A/B comparisons of stock digi002 converters and the Black lion mod, it's quite impressing, I'm wondering at which point the poor converters kill the clarity I get with the Sage? I...

Mono Omni as overhead, am I the only one?
Last session I did, after trying different mics as overhead, I tried a cheap omni (studio project b3) as a single mono OH, and it sounded really good, way better than every other cardioid mics I tried (oktava mc012, AT3035) More natural, open, roomy without too much room, just plain real. I'm wonder...

Montreal - We need a Drummer (Psych-Punk-60s)
We are looking for a drummer comfortable with both powerful and subtle playing. Our songs cover a wide range of quiet / loud ness. This is some of the stuff we dig and may have an influence on what we play: Them, Drive like Jehu, Nick Cave, Black Flag, Gris Gris, Tom Waits, Hawkwind, Velvet, Televis...

in my lunch break I went to the music store and tried both (LBM and BMP, but there was no russian in stock). There is definitively a big noticeable difference between both (even if the documentation with the little big muff said it is the exact same thing but in a smaller casing), I prefered the BMP...
