I'm pretty sure that as the source to gate voltage on an N-channel FET becomes more negative the channel resistance increases. This is what happens when I make the control voltage on gate of the jfet more negative (the channel resistance increases), and logic dictates that this should lower the gai...

fet as variable resistor question
I've built the following circuit, which uses a jfet as a variable resistor controlling the gain of an opamp: http://www.digitalbirdstudios.com/fetresistor.png When I increase the negative control voltage (making it more negative) the drain-source resistance increases. Seeing as the fet is acting as ...

newbie oscilloscope question/square waves
I've got this software oscilloscope up and running, and I've been passing square waves through various gear, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I should be gleaning from these waveforms. This first image is a capture of just the square wave running into the oscilloscope. http://www.dig...

I'm very happy with my m520. I'd check to make sure the little jumpers for normalling the send and receive RCA jacks are there. They were missing with mine and it was an annoying extra expense getting all the tiny RCA cables needed to normal the channels. I have this problem with my m-50 mixer. Any...

My Motu 828 mkII is dead...I think
It turns on, the top half of the LCD screen is lit up, the bottom is black. It won't boot up. Sometimes there's some text, and the input and output meters light up, and horrible crackling comes out. I need advice. It's nearly five years old, so I think the warranty is done. Is there any way to fix t...

This is somewhat hearsay, but I've had reason to believe that the phantom power isn't a full 48 volts. May cause problems with some mics, which is how I heard about it. That's interesting. I experienced mics dropping out momentarily with a traveler I was using. I can't say that that the traveler wa...

Soundcraft epm series vs. Mackie vlz
Hey,
Does anyone have any idea how the GB30 mic preamps in the Soundcraft EPM series mixers compare with those in the Mackie vlz series mixers?
thanks.
