Great stuff. I'm never afraid to use the meat flaps. :D So the details: + Baby grand in a large communal setting with lofty ceilings. Good sounding piano and room. + I'm running Logic 9 on a MacBook Pro using the Apogee Duet as my converter. + I used a SE Z5600 Tube into a Vintech Pre over his left ...

Music style is solo piano, very George Winston'ish. I guess what I was hoping with this post was EQ and compression plug recs that folks have used when mixing piano. Thanks!!

Thanks Mike! Yeah, I'm thinking you nailed it on the head there. I tried firing both the M-Audio and Duet simultaneously with no luck. I did do the reamp trick from my studio and have to say, it sounded pretty good. I'm looking to post up a rough mix this weekend for him to check out. Thanks everyon...

Mixing piano

Hi all, A new thread for a new question. I'm wondering what folks recommend when mixing piano. I will be mixing in the box and have a slew of plugs to choose from. What plugs do the masses like for... 1. EQ 2. Compression I know this one is pretty subjective, but I'm super curious to hear what folks...

Questions after our first mic/pre test

Hi all, We had our first live run last night. I tried quite a few setups in regards to mic placement. The one he/we seemed the most happy with was the SE Tube over his left shoulder aimed more at the thicker (low) strings about 5' above him and the Oktava inside the baby grand, with the lid open one...

FS: Alesis ADAT-HD24XR+Fireport+misc

I have lost my trusty mac to the dreaded old age. The missus is making me sell some gear before I can replace. As I'm not doing band work these days, it's a pity to have this bad boy not being used for making gold records. Comes with Alesis LRC remote control, 2 caddies, a brand clean hard drive, ma...

THANKS EVERYONE!!

Thanks so much for the killer feedback. I'm sending out emails to all mentioned. Budget wise, I'm hoping to keep it between $500-$1000. Treelady is looking tasty at $600, so we'll see. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Mastering: Recs for a DIY album on a DIY budget

Hi all, My Chinese Democracy, :D , is nearing completion. Now it's time to find a mastering house. I'm always reading the ads in the back of Tape Op, but wanted to ask the forum for some recs. My only mastering exp was at The Plant and we/the band were able to be there in person, amazing experience....
