Thanks! Yeah I have it working fine with dB pads at the inputs but it'd be nice to have it so that phantom power worked properly and the pots actually did something. That said, I'm getting a lot of drum tracking use out of it and it sounds really nice

yup

They did indeed! However a few Hosa input pad transformers (switchable -10 to -40db) took care of that and I can indeed confirm that these are really nice sounding pres!

Altec Lansing 1678C- usable as pres without mod?

Okay so I've got a line on a wicked cheap Altec Lansing 1678C. Appears to have direct outs on each channel but I know people mod these channels to make them "truly independent"- my question is, if I don't do the mod/s, is this thing still usable as a rack of pres? Especially for drums? Is it lacking...

Best Albums That Never Existed

Hey, used to be on here a lot years ago but now not much, but I thought I'd post this here anyway. The site Wondering Sound asked me a few months back to take 10 Facebook Profile pictures and make ten artists, album covers, and bios for them each, and then write and record one song for each. The res...

Ramsa WR 8210A for sale, NYC

Hey guys, been awhile since I've been here. Like, a long while. Anyway, I'm selling my beloved Ramsa WR 8210A board. Perfect working condition. I'll throw in the channel snake if I can find it. I live in Ridgewood, Queens. Great board for the project studio, esp if you've got a dedicated I/O without...

yes

Logic 9's varispeed function is actually pretty astounding within reason. Definitely a useful tool. If you have a really complex mix with lots of plugs be sure to set your buffer speed higher than you normally would. It's kind of hidden, for some reason, you have to right-click on the transport tool...
