The Clash
Been a while since I posted anything here, but I am up late listening to records & it occurred to me... That The Clash is one of the greatest F'ing bands ever. I have been listening to the Magnificent Seven 12" over & over & over.... Ok, yes, along with Rock the Casbah as well... It is my understand...

Re: Danger Mouse: The Grey Album
While I thought it was cool & a good work of sampling, looping, I wasn't all that crazy about it myself. (I kinda like the Beatles but was never really a big fan). I am a big fan of hip hop & the whole (old school) sampling style though. I liked Jay-Z better in his pre-superstar days (Dead President...

Anybody here using a SoundWorkshop console?
This user group is a good resource...

I just got a Series 34, if anyone has experience wiring one of these up - I'd like to pick your brain!

Re: Sound Workshop, Harrison or MCI boards?
I'm sure you'll get lots of votes for the MCI.
I use a Soundoworkshop & like it.
Sounds great to me.
Lots of console for the money.
If you go with the SoundWorkshop be sure to check out the new SoundWorkshop Users Group:

Re: am i missing something...what's wrong with this??
I would skip this one. For such a shitty looking fixer-upper, I wouldn't dump more than $50 for it. Don't forget you gotta get it shipped too... That thing looks like it's been out in the rain, shitted on & pecked at by birds. Although only a 2-track, I got a MINT (and I mean MINT) Otari MX5050-MKII...

Re: 16 Track HD Recorder ??
Yep, I have seen the DR-16's (I used to own a DR4d years ago). Wouldn't mind having one if the price were right, I seen 'em go for under $600, which is not bad. I just don't want to get an older machine then be stuck with issue of hard to get options or parts should I need some. But I am pretty sure...

Re: 16 Track HD Recorder ??
Yeah but I don't need the faders or anything on-board like that. Otherwise I would have kept my Yamaha AW4416 (great machine by the way). Whatever I get needs to be rackmount, standalone & sound good. 44.1khz/16bit is fine for me, 96K & all that fancy stuff is just plain overkill. So far only things...

Re: 16 Track HD Recorder ??
Ahh, you probably mean the VSR 880 (rackmuont version).... I used to have a VS880 a while back (the all in one mixer/recorder thing), man I hate how those things sounded. I am sure the newer VS series have imporved but those earlier ones sounded like bad MP3 recorders. 2 of those would be pretty che...

16 Track HD Recorder ??
I am looking at the Alesis HD24 (know about the Mackie & Fostex)... But I was wondering, since in all honesty 24 trks is really overkill in a sense for me, does anyone make a 16 track HD recorder these days? I rarely, rarely (I mean rarely) ever exceed maybe 12 or 14 tracks. Most my work fits nicely...

Hi,

Re: Fostex D2424LV or Alesis HD24 ?
Well seems like the HD24 is gonna be the way to go. Fostex seems to have a pretty robust recorder (the D2424) but I just don't trust Fostex. By the way, I don't need an all-in-one DAW solution. I am switching from that type of setup (had an AW4416). I just need an HD recorder that does one thing & d...
