Re: Digitraxx/even cheaper mAudio/1010LT pres?
So in other words if I need 2CH of pres to tide me over for a while I'd be better off getting one of the USB boxes rather than the 1010LT?

Weird Old Mixer Identification/Help
So we have this weird old board sitting around work and I can't quite figure it out. Its labeled a Teac 3, Tascam Series. The tag on the side says that the warranty expired October 22, 1979 so its pretty old. I have access to a digital camera but no where to host pictures or I'd post a pic. Its got ...

Digitraxx/even cheaper mAudio/1010LT pres?
So I'm looking to get a quick and dirty audio interface and found www.digitraxx.com who are selling mAudio products for less than I normally see them (mobilepre-USB=$129, Audiophile-USB=$169). They seem reputable, but that could all be BS....anyone ever heard of them? In general the Tascam 2Ch USB i...

Re: Studio Mics Live?
Perhaps, but they probobly don't have a stack of amps behind them, and a bunch of big ass wedges in front of them. With traditional bluegrass its basicially just the players and a mic.

Syncing Budget Live Recoding
So this might be slightly off topic but anyway.... So I'm helping out at a small college live music venue and they are trying to record the shows that they have for later broadcast on the college radio station. Its all rather low budget/low tech. Basicially we are recoding two channels of room mikes...

So I picked this up at a thrift store for like $7...its just an old stero cassette deck but it had VU meters and gain adjust so I thought it might be useful/cool to run things through. Any suggestions on what I can do to make it sound its best and anyone have any idea what its best might be (and if ...

You might want to keep in mind that there is a significant price difference between those two mics. Around $40 by my quick google check.

Re: light dimmer de-buzz product
You could always get a rack of ETC Sensor Sinewave dimmers and a board to control them....then you could have like 115kW of noiseless dimmable lights in your studio.

Re: Holy crap! I love tape!!! 15ips RULES!
Every VCR tape has 2 audio tracks. A crappy linear one that runs along the edge of the tape (.35mm/channel like 1 ips). The "HiFi" audio track is the one that most modern VCRs use. It is NOT digital audio. It does have something in common with digital audio tapes but only in how it is recorded....th...

Re: recommend to me a good, cheap omnidirectional microphone
If I remember correctaly consumer mic inputs provide like 3V or something in order to power cheap electret mics. Now I haven't used one, but the TapeOp omni is well spoken for and seems like a good option. It uses an electret capsule, use your 3V instead of the battery the instructions say to use an...
