No, this isn't for sound reinforcement, just for vocals in a small space. Think storefront church-size. Drums and amps are never mic'd up, it's just singers and a bunch of DI's thru the PA. Priority for mics is reliability and not being too expensive (because they will get dropped/damaged eventually...

Star Power! Yes, that sounds about right. Thanks, I'll look into those!

Any other suggestions are of course welcome.

Hey live sound people--I tried to utfsf...but...

Once a month I host a show at a small DIY music venue/art gallery. It's a great place, people there are super nice, i always enjoy myself there. But it's run by volunteers, all the equipment is donated and on the verge of falling apart. Mics especially are in bad shape, always getting dropped/stands...

uher repair?

A long shot, but does anyone in the States still repair the Uher report decks? Mine works fine but has a dead vu meter.

Re: Allright you geniuses, can you help me on this one?

Oh yeah..."kopf" does mean "head," doesn't it?

Could that be some kind of banana plug jack? Or something more obscure?

Re: Allright you geniuses, can you help me on this one?

Oh yeah--I found this info on a Uher 1200 deck: Uher 1200 Report Portable 2 track ?" open reel tape recorder Maximum spool size 5" 2 mic inputs (DIN3 lockable) Line input (4mm banana) 600 Ohms Outputs: line level (DIN5), speaker (DIN2) So is one of these for a banana plug? That doesn't seem to corre...

Re: Allright you geniuses, can you help me on this one?

Excellent, thanks for the responses so far. I can clarify a few things: -the stick-shift thing is indeed the tape speed selector, and serves also as the 'power-on' switch--that is, the motors don't work until you select a tape speed. -there is already a power cable running out from the back of the d...

Allright you geniuses, can you help me on this one?

Okay, I recently acquired this for cheap: http://www.elichartkoff.com/uher_full.jpg It's a Uher 4000 Report-S, and all of the functions I've tested so far (playback and record, via the mic input) work. But I'm having trouble identifying some of the controls--if anyone can decipher German (or can wag...

Re: Uher report monitor -- DIN jacks

This is odd...here's something for the Uher 1200:
2 mic inputs (DIN3 lockable)
Line input (4mm banana) 600 Ohms
Outputs: line level (DIN5), speaker (DIN2)
Weird. Maybe it's different from model to model? I suppose I'll have to wait until the thing shows up to know for sure.

Re: Uher report monitor -- DIN jacks

Okay, cool.

I've still not been able to find out about the line inputs and headphone jacks--apparently they're banana plugs? Which I've not dealt with before.

Re: Uher report monitor -- DIN jacks

Really? Huh. Well, the one I'm going to get ahold of is a 4000 Report-S. I did find a picture of the mic input on a Report-L, I dunno if it's different: http://jorma-lindqvist.net/hifi/uher/clear.jpg That's a DIN-5, right? What would it need all those pins for on a mono recorder? Anyway...were I to ...

Re: Uher report monitor -- DIN jacks

Right, I see. Well, the machine in question would be a mono one. Um...well, if nobody knows for sure, I'll just...I dunno...cry or something.

Uher report monitor -- DIN jacks

Is the mic input a 3-pin din or a 5-pin? Does anyone know? How about the line input? I tried using google but had no luck.

Uherrrrrrrr...
